Dulwich
The town of Dulwich lies in the middle of an open field that seems to draw shooting stars, meteorites—and the occasional monster—from the sky with a strange magnetic pull. Long ago, whenever a new star crashed down, entire guilds would race to collect its resources. These guilds have since been united under the Alltraders of Mor Mardagh, resulting in a marked drop in theft across Dulwich.
General Information
Population: ~5,000 (77% Human, 13% Dwarven, 10% other)Government: Overseer Marwen Thale serves as the official ruler of the city. The dwarf Bramdur Ular, envoy of the Ular Dwarves of Mor Mardagh, also has significant influence in the city. This is a result of wartime disruptions to the Golden Order’s mining tools, now replaced with Alltrader tools, giving Bramdur a firm seat at every major decision.
Defense: Dulwich is encircled by a sturdy wooden palisade, maintained with surprisingly well given the town’s size. Patrols known as the field‑wardens are trained to respond quickly to falling stars, and a series of bells and horns quickly alert the town in case a crash was not loud enough by itself.
Commerce: Trade in Dulwich revolves around the harvesting, appraisal, and sale of star‑fallen materials. Items are often bought by travelling representatives of far‑off businesses and stored in communal vaults until caravans from the Order or Mor Mardagh arrive to collect them.
Organizations: The once‑competing meteor guilds have been unified under the Alltraders of Mor Mardagh, who regulate collection rights and ensure fair distribution of profits. Their presence has sharply reduced theft and sabotage, though rumors persist of independent scavengers who still try their luck when a star falls at night.
Sigil: A blazing comet above a field, its tail comprised of dwarven runes spelling "Dulwich"
