Session 36: Meteorite Scavenging
37th & 38th of Snowmelt
General Summary
As the fight between the undead and the party starts, Felix gets hit by a boulder from the giant. Luckily, the remaining members of the LUKI Four stand at the ready and start unleashing powerful spells at the creatures. The party quickly spots that the two-headed crows are the most trouble, and with a combination of fire spells they take out one. Then, through a combination of Leafs summoned eagles and Indra's summoned shadow-smoke air elemental the party manages to make quick work of the other one. Though the giant does manage to take down Felix for a moment, the unicorn which had miraciously appeared around Killian a few moments ago heals him as the group takes down the giant. The rest of the undead, including the two undead bears that joined the fray later, quicky fall to the blows of the party. Though they are somewhat shaken by the events, the fight went quite smoothly.
Not wasting any time, the party analyzes the now quite battlefield for clues on what just happened and why. Felix takes this time to scan the surroundings, and happily reports no other nearby enemies. The rest uses their combined knowledge of magic, knowledge of nature and deduction skills to determine what has happened. They realize that most likely the two two-headed crows were leading this assault. The undead apppeared to have been on their final straw, as they collapse to dust mere moments after the fight. This effect is halted whenever Indra comes close, which the party relates to the "Arcane Eye" that once belonged to the powerful necromancer Lady Juliet of Maurkin. The party humors the idea that she might need the magical item to control the undead, but ultimatly decides it is not something they can fix now. The rest of the night is mostly uneventful, aside from Felix having a staredown with a squirrel, and Leaf finding out that the undead were trailing the party and the giant 'apperated' out of stone.
Seeing wildlife return to the area around them, and with no further undead creatures, the party resumes their journey to Dulwich. Leaf quickly checks with a 'cool squirrel' if any undead remain behind them, but it reports back to her that it does not appear to be the case. Eventually they happen upon Yalena, an All Trader that collects the meteores that float downriver from Dulwich. She is cursing about, as the beaverlisks she uses to pull her cart have scurried off. She and the party come to an agreement. The party gets a chunk of Zûlzar Zhavarvok from Yalena, if they can help her carry her collected meteores back to Dulwich before dawn. And thus begines a 4-hour long journey along the river to Dulwich. Though half of the journey the cart is carried by Leaf in horse form, Uthal and Yalena herself, the other half it is carried by eight summoned Elks that leaf summons. This almost goes wrong near the end, as four of the Elks end up falling in the river. Indra, Uthal and Yalena also almost fall into the river, but a quick 'fly' spell from Indra prevent this from happening, though it freaks out Yalena who is not used to magic.
Eventually the group reaches Dulwich, and heads into the small village. Though it is already getting dark outside, it is still relatively early in the day. The group has a quick chat with a tourist from the Xayamid empire, before visiting "The Starhammer", a local blacksmith that works with the metals recovered from the meteorites. Though the party realizes that blacksmith Torren talks to his ores as if they are his friends, they still discuss business with him, and start deciding what new armors and weapons they want to buy while they stay within Dulwich.
