Laslin Pillars
Okay, if Ekkusti is right, and the void's a portal, d'ya think the pillars are like... from another world? Somewhere celestial, so it works in opposite? The Laslin Pillars are the technology upon which most of the Laslin Cities are built, and are the bedrock they rely upon to survive against the ever-present pull of the Current of the World. Despite this, how they work or what they even are is a complete mystery.
Description
These pillars largely resemble the other, more mundane pillars used in cities like Stadeben - that is large, 100 metre tall cylinders that pierce the sandy bottom of the Finuhit Ocean and support the foundation blocks of the cities. Unlike those other pillars, which are built from cement with metal and magical reinforcements, Laslin Pillars are made of an unknown material that somewhat resembles limestone in its colouration and visual texture. Laslin Pillars also have a unique property compared to seemingly any other matter in the world - they are resistant to the pull of the Current towards the World's Edge, and the cities built on top of them move only a few centimetres every years, versus the dozens and hundreds of metres seen in landmasses and Stadeben.History
It is unknown where the pillars came from, or how they came to be anchored into the Finuhit Ocean. Those present in four cities - Vilaen, Albathania, Balkehir, and Taufa - have been there for at least 1'200 years, with no mention in the earliest records of their origins. There has only been one confirmed instance of a Laslin Pillar failing, that being in the collapse of Taufa in 3256, where one snapped in half and dragged the city into the ocean. The remaining Laslin Pillars of Taufa stick out of the ocean like broken teeth.
