Ekkusti Hazechaser
Ekkusti Hazechaser
I have been called a lot of things - foolish, obsessed, deranged. But one day, regardless of all those, I will be known as right.Ekkusti Hazechaser is a Goblin researcher based out of the Laslin City of Stadeben. Primarily focusing on understanding the World's Edge and what lies beyond, he is the head researcher of the Institute of Currents and Displacement.
History
Born in the city of Taufa, Ekkusti was well-exposed to the fun-loving antics and chaos of the predominantly Gnomish population, finding friends swiftly. However, the fun did not last, as in 3256 the city collapsed into the Finuhit Ocean. While Ekkusti and his family were lucky enough to escape to distant Stadeben, many of their friends were not so lucky. This incident impressed upon young Ekkusti the power of the Current of the World, a mysterious force that draws all matter towards the precipitous waterfalls at its edge. He pivoted hard from pranks and humour into magic and research, pouring over many an old tome in his new home to try and better understand the phenomenon. Such was his dedication to the topic that he attracted the attention of a number of academic groups in the city, with whom he spent many years. In 3271, he committed to a specific group - the Institute of Currents and Displacement, who specialised in tracking the movement of the cities and landmasses towards the World's Edge. With their resources, he was able to get closer to the waterfalls than ever before, and glimpse the void past them. He took extensive notes about the appearance of the void and its changes throughout the times of day and seasons, eventually building up an unrivalled catalogue, as well as an unchallenged record for the amount of times he travelled to the edge. These efforts would see Ekkusti awarded the title of "Hazechaser" and the position of Head Researcher at the Institute in 3279. He took advantage of this position to dedicate more work into exploring the World's Edge, and developed a theory counter to the mainstream - that rather than destroying, the void beyond the falls were the gateway to another plane of reality.Mental characteristics

If the void were just that, devoid of life, then I would expect it to be static, in the same way a glass of water does not change unless it is drunk. But it constantly shifts and ebbs, changing colour and texture beyond the horizon. I refuse to believe there isn't something beyond the mists, and I will find it.
