The Empire of the Cath Bruig
The reformed Empire of the Cath Bruig. Following the Great War, during which the original Cath Bruig Empire was destroyed nearly to the last man, King Alric of Madrigal dreamt of reforming the empire and returning it and it's light to the world.
It was a dream that was nearly extinguished when Soulblighter, the right hand of the Leveller, rose in the East and brought war upon the living, 60 years following the end of the Great War. A bitter war was fought for nearly a year as Alric struggled to gain the upper hand against the ancient villain. However, in his bid to win the war, he sent his finest warriors into the ruins of Muirthemne, where they found the Ibis Crown and Balmung, the greatest sword the world had ever seen.
With the western province in ruins for the second time in a generation, Alric fled to Muirthemne and declared Muirthemne the seat of all that is living and good in the world and reestablished the Empire.
Following his victory over Soulblighter, over the next 60 years, he spent the remainder of his life rebuilding and leading the Avatara order, healing the broken lands around Muirthemne, from the blasted desert to the lush green farmland it once was.
By the time of his abdication and the ascension of his son, Emperor Alric II, Muirthemne had returned to being the greatest city of the known world and the center of education, trade, science, magic and the arts.
