The Faith

The Faith is the official religion of the Argonian Empire. It is centered around a pantheon of various deities that each hold authority over their own domain. There is no ranking between the gods and goddesses, however, Solus the Bright is seen as the head deity of The Faith. Practice is mainly seen as a private affair, where followers can choose which god they worship. Usually, people pick a god based on their own profession or their local environment. Worship is done through making offerings at specialized altars. These offerings differ between deities. The alters where people perform worship are usually located in temples and are specialized for each deity. Usually, a temple has its main deity and a set of minor altars for other gods. Alters can be found as well in certain specialized buildings. For example, Talos the Chronicler has many of his shrines located in academies and libraries. There are a few exceptions to these practices. The occasional god does not rely on altars or has certain rituals that are meant to be performed in public. One of these deities is Solus the Bright, whose offerings are made through oaths and should therefore be performed in public.
