Atmospheric Belt

An atmospheric belt is a geographical phenomenon within Aetheris where dense clouds rise up from the cloud sea to form a daunting wall. Although the phenomenon may form and part over a period longer than a century, its true longevity is due to the emergence of nubestial vegetation. Inside the atmospheric belt, large cloud reefs tend to grow which seem to retain much of the cloud density and postpone the belt's defusion. As with aquatic reefs, these cloud reefs permit a unique ecosystem to flourish within the atmospheric belt, however, these environments are far less safe compared to their aquatic counterparts as large predators also make it their home.   Atmospheric belts are not completely stationary, it may occur certain belts have a drifting momentum to them, where one end of the belt descends into the cloud sea while the other arises from it. It may occur that there are patches or even halves of the belt drift in an opposing direction than other sections. Wherever two sections of the belt meet that drift in opposing directions, fierce weather occurs. In these narrow streeks, powerful winds blow that can reach the same strength as those of a typhoon, and lightning thunders suddenly and frequently.   Similar to atmospheric belts, there also exist atmospheric domes and rings. These structures occur far less commonly and tend to defuse too rapidly for reefs to form. Nevertheless, whenever these structures do form they tend to either contain the most beautiful parts of Aetheris, or the most dangerous.   The large Atmospheric belt that lies near the ruins of Heliomea is part of the greater Anemoi belt. Not far from its edge lies the Radiant Growth within a subcircular clearing inside the belt. Due to the growth's religious importance to the Icara's predecessors, a passageway was created to the surrounding island which was named the Cloudway . The entrance to the cloudway is still accessible, however, its interior has degraded to the point that traversing it is no longer without challenge.
