Melwyn

The Kingdom of Melwyn was a southeastern Ephian Kingdom in Central Kovus, before they were united under King Vannon Alessia. Melwyn was ruled by different Families throughout its History, due to it being an elective monarchy. The last ruling family was the Lorryk family, whose last king was King Walmar Lorryk, who was killed by an arrow to his eye during the Battle of Highhalls in 861.   Melwyn was comprised of the Earldoms of Melwyn, Kanwyn and the Ironpeak Mountains, before being integrated into the Kingdom of Varenya.
The Region of Melwyn was finally dissolved, when the lands were divided between Varenya and Ardyre in 920.

Structure

The Kindom was divided into multiple duchies, which were divided into earldoms, which were divided into baronies, which ruled over villages and cities.

Culture

Due to the widespread belief in The True Faith the people of Melwyn are more warlike than their neighbouring peoples. Good deeds are not valued as highly as in the other Kingdoms.   Due to many Phenibal traditions, that are still prevelent today they have an elective monarchy.

History

The Kingdom evolved out of the ancient Phenibal Kingdom of Bisha after the Ephians took over.   They were defeated and integrated into Verenya during the Subjugation Wars in 862. The Region of Melwyn was finally dissolved, when the lands were divided between Varenya and Ardyre in 920.

Disbandment

After the Battle of Highhalls and death of King Walmar Lorryk the Kingdom was integrated into Varenya.

Territories

The Kingdom of Melwny stretched from the Goldwater Rush through the Koven Highlands and encompassed the Ironpeak and Erbig Mountains.

Religion

The True Faith is the Name of a Vedist  Sect, that is widespread in the North of Melwyn. Others call them Mukists. The faith only accepts Mukvim as a god, due to the other two being dead. The concept of 'being part of a god' is also questioned by this believe, stating that the moment the two godly brothers died, they lost all godlyness. With this line of thought they also reject the status of humans as "part of a god", leading them to view life as less valuable than their Vedist counterpart.   The religious divide between the Vedists and Mukists has caused many internal conflicts for the Kingdom, but in its last years these had died down to minor squabbles. Mainly due to the policies of the Lorryk Kings.
