Epsilon Eridani (Ran)

This system has two planets. Epsilon Eridani b is a gas giant about about 20% smaller than Jupiter. The second, named Epsilon Eridani c is much smaller, but huge compared to earth. It is a rocky planet with a very thick nitrogen/methane mix with trace amounts of hydrogen. In the early days of FTL travel, Epsilon Eridani was thought that the massive asteroid fields would be good for mining resources. However, most of the mines have pretty common rocks with iron, or nickel cores. Because of this, most of the valuable resources were depleted in less than 3 years. The small colony that was made to support about 1,000 people was converted to a domed prison colony called Epsilon Eridani Penitentiary Center which is home to 1,600 prisoners, and 100 Earth Security Force guards.
