Thanks to a series of savvy investments and philanthropic projects, Sandoreale's fortunes are rising once again, buoyed by the support of the commonfolk to whom they've become local heroes.

Prior to assuming the title of Baron of Barreste, Josten worked as a prominent merchant in the Lowlands, securing hard-to-find staples and luxuries for the hardscrabble folk who dwell within his lands. He has a head for numbers and a savvy for determining what people want... and just what they'll pay to get it.
Accomplishments & Achievements
Using the profits from his mercantile ventures (and a healthy inheritance) Josten began several public works projects in Barreste, sponsoring the digging of wells, the laying of roads and the construction of watchtowers to better secure the lands around the city.

Josten sees himself as a "man of the people," and is willing to bend the truth and gild it to make it more palatable to the ears of the commonfolk. He's also not above using useful scapegoats in order to divert or deflect the wrath of an angry mob.

Josten met his future wife Aida when she visited Banteave on a trade mission from the Continent. Despite her already being married, Josten pursued her reletnelessly, and soon she eloped to his court in Barreste. Trouble would soon follow when her husband Mabren arrived to challenge Josten to a duel in the Circle to defend his honour for such a callous deed. Josten accepted and slew Mabren without a second's thought.
