Fort Daring

Summoned from the ground in a matter of minutes by Aurelia Archselon as part of the restoration of Daring, this fortress is actually the second of its name. The first was created by Aurelia during the assault by orcish hordes on the town, on a hill to the northwest to stand in their way. The battle was lost and as the spell expired the whole keep collapsed to the ground.
The new Fort Daring was built with far more thought and planning, and so while simple boasts far more care and attention to detail in its architecture and defences. It follows a basic design of a keep surrounded by walls, with a tower at each corner, but this is built within Daring Heights, along the northern edge of the wall of the city so that the front gates of Fort Daring stand facing outwards and on the innermost wall only a small door allows access to and from the city proper.
The fort is home to the standing army of the town, overseen by Commander Cordelia Jadefist, and its presence is the reason that the northern quarter of the city is known as Castleside.
