Skraw

Basic Information

Anatomy

The Skraw are a race of humanoid avians. Skraw are roughly human-sized, with feathers over most of their bodies, though they do not have beaks, but jaws like a reptile. Their plumage is usually white, with occasional black stripes. While flightless, they have wing-like arms that end in a taloned three fingered hand.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

The Skraw control sectors trailing the Urbian Empire, and coreward of the Kraesh Dominion. The extent of their influence is not known.

Civilization and Culture

History

Originally from Airros, a single nation took over the planet and instituted “The Way”- a religious/civil code that unified the Skraw people. One of the tenets of “The Way” was that the Skraw will eventually rule the universe, so the new unified planet went to work on developing space travel and, in time, jump drive. Their science teams eventually succeeded and the Skraw began to fulfill the philosophy of “The Way”. The first alien race that they encountered was the Ravna, a race that was strikingly similar to the Skraw with only minor differences. The Skraw launched their first interstellar purge and attacked the Ravna, however the Ravna fought back fiercely and a long bloody war followed. The Ravna were eventually defeated and fled their home world with the Skraw in pursuit- however, the purge of the Ravna has still not been completed. Eventually the Skraw encountered the Kraesh and held off on purging them due to the fact that the Kraesh Dominion is far more powerful and advanced than the Skraw Empire. The Skraw also encountered the post-Terran Republic humans (primarily the Urbian Empire), and began a purge of the trailing side of the former Terran Republic territories, but inexplicably stopped before wiping out the Urbian Empire.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

The Skraw believe at a very fundamental cultural level that they will rule the galaxy and other races will be eliminated or, at best, be servants of the Skraw. This colors their relations with the other powers of the galaxy.

The Skraw respect the Kraesh Dominion's strength and size, so they are polite in their dealings with Kraesh.

The Skraw are also polite, if more than a little cold, in their dealings with the Urbian Empire, though they have recently ceased a major war with them. The Skraw are aware of the Interstellar League, though they have no formal relations as they have no actual border with the Interstellar League.

Skraw will kill Ravna on sight and without mercy. The Ravna are more than happy to reciprocate.

The Skraw are aware of the Drakana, though they have no formal relations with them since they have no common border.
