Drakana

Basic Information

Anatomy

The Drakana a race of large hexapodal reptilians. While scale covered, they appear to be warm blooded. Kraesh scientists feel that it is probable that young still hatch from eggs, though this has never been confirmed. Drakana have four legs, each of which ends in a “hand” with an opposable thumb. When needed or desired, they will rear on their hind legs and manipulate objects with their front limbs. The two remaining limbs are vestigial wings, which are used for various cultural display purposes. They also have a flexible, muscular tail. Unlike many terran reptiles, Drakana appear to show little sexual dimorphism. There are no reports of the ability to breathe fire.

History

The Drakana are a very old species that supposedly have mapped the entire Galaxy. However, their culture has been split between two conflicting factions, each claiming to be following the rightful monarch. This conflict appears to have been going on for about 10,000 Solar years.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

The Drakana (both factions) know of and have formal and neutral relations with most major powers of the known Galaxy. However, due to their long running civil conflict, their influence is now restricted to two sectors spinward of the Interstellar League.
