Nova Cerulis

Purpose / Function

Standing for generations, Nova Cerulis's original creed included the housing of nomadic scientists after the original calamity destroyed the workspaces of many of these brilliant minds. As time went on, the vision expanded as these scientists and arcanists began to undertake apprentices and, as the reputation of the academy grew, eventually burgeoned into a school with classes of twenty to thirty eager, young apprentices hoping to learn under some of the greatest minds in The Impasse. Today, Nova Cerulis is a high class organization that accepts students from *primarily* wealthy backgrounds into their program, hoping to unearth the next brilliant mind of their generation and training these young hopefuls to become influential explorers into the scientific and arcane arts.

Alterations

What began as a small, unadorned limestone building with a flat roof has grown into a sprawling campus consisting of scores of rooms for various means of study. Dozens of laboratories, each equipped with state of the art equipment and the latest of safety precautions are scattered amongst the complex, intermixed with small rooms for instruction make up the majority of the campus with towers of varying height sprouting up from the jumble of buildings like trees. As more money had begun to pour into the academy from wealthy families wanting the highest of education for their sons and daughters, Nova Cerulis had finally the monetary burdens lifted and were free to expand as needed, leading to the mess of sprawling structures today.

Architecture

Nova Cerulis is designed in a style common for the desert regions of the western reaches of the The Impasse, making use of sandstone as the primary means of building and using the light weight rattan wood to reinforce and adorn the buildings. In recent decades, craftsmen from all around the Bahaskian region had been asked to come impliment artistic form and design to many of the older buildings and help construct the newer ones in the same style. This has led to the whole complex of the academy to be a beautiful oasis of intricate detail carved into the sandstone, small pools of water for reflection scattered about, and significant amounts of sustainable greenery to increase the productivity of the students and researchers boarded in Nova Cerulis.
