Hunter's Guild

The Hunter's Guild is a loose coalition of Sighted whose response to knowledge of the Powers is to try to protect humanity from them. Most have entered a pact with a specific Power, particularly commonly The Hunter for which the guild is named. The boons granted to those who are so bound to the Powers enable them to stand a fighting chance against the wide variety of creatures that prey upon humanity.

Structure

The Hunter's Guild has no defined hierarchy beyond that which is defined locally - indeed, even the name varies from one region to the next. Many groups, including the guild in Tulwood, have no formal leader, aside from possibly a Loremaster - a learned hunter who offers their knowledge and guidance to other members of the guild. Despite this, conflict between different groups is rare. Traditionally, hunters in one region do not stray outside of that region much, and when they do, they seek out prominent hunters in that region to coordinate their efforts and share information.   Most groups organize into hunting packs, small teams of hunters with complimentary skills. Often these packs adopt one or two newcomers every year or so, hoping to nurture a sustainable relationship with their chosen Power and putting them down if they fall prey to its influence too heavily. However, some packs keep to themselves in an effort to maintain a fairly consistent amount of experience between each member. When this works well, this results in extremely capable packs, hunting down the oldest and most dangerous servants of the Powers. When things go poorly, an entire pack can fall to the Powers as one, becoming a great threat both to the Hunter's Guild, and to humanity in general.

"Mad Dogs"

When a Hunter of the guild loses their humanity, and begins to prey on humans in service to the Power they are bound to, the Guild makes a special effort to take them down. Much like how a community might come together to kill a rabid dog on a rampage, every member of the Guild considered capable enough to fight a lost Hunter must take part in the effort to stop them. In extreme cases, particularly if an entire pack falls together, Hunters from nearby regions may be called upon to assist as well, as those Hunters who fall are often very experienced and thus extremely dangerous.
