Syracilus

Born at the very top of society among the ruling elite of the Delothian Collective and his legendary father Dactylon (inventor of the Delothian Soul Matrix). Syracilus is a talented and idealistic engineer whose sole purpose is to step out from underneath his father's shadow.

Origins:

Syracilus was born on Thessalis-Prime among the wealthiest and most influential members in the entire sector, thanks to the achievements of his legendary father: Dactylon the Inventor.

However, his father wasn't always on top. He was exiled to Eceterus-Prime as a ploy by his siblings to steal his family's meager inheritance. While there, he excelled as a talented engineer and inventor, while he struggled to feed his family and support his first son: Syracilus the First.

He was commissioned to build a planet-sized maze for the Mycestian king: Ton-Sanim. Upon completion, he stranded the inventor and his son into the maze as punishment for sleeping with his daughter: Tsen-daera (a lie to have the creator die with his knowledge of the labyrinth).

The two would create two makeshift star decks and use them to escape the planet to a nearby Hellecian settlement. Amazed by space flight (which to this point was believed to be impossible for anyone but the Gods), Syracilus made wide-sweeping maneuvers against his father's wishes. Thus bending his steering column.

This caught the attention of the Mycestian Armada who shot down a damaged Syracilus' ship while Dactylon successfully escape.

After escaping the planet in what would become the first star-decks independent of Mycestian design, his father Dactylon would patent these designs and make a fortune as precursors to the tri-decks.

However, his creation of the first Delot chassis and the first successful Soul Matrix Conversion would earn him notoriety akin to being the "Steve Jobs" of the Hellecian Sector.

Marrying into Archaenid royalty and essentially constructing the framework the highly-regimented social hierarchy the Delothian Collective is built on, and naming him after his dead first son, Syracilus' life seemed to be just another product of his father's success.

While those around Syracilus awarded him the respect his father's name commanded, Syracilus had almost everything given to him.

He sought to free himself of his father's shadow by not converting into a Delot and becoming the first Archaenid member on the Deca Dactyla or Council of the Ten Digits (the ruling democratic council of the Delothian Collective).

Traditionally, the council was governed by Delots as the level of computations would be impossible for any organic. But there aren't any rules saying it isn't illegal to have an organic on the council. Plus, King Thesacles was part of the Deca Dactyla until his untimely disappearance.

However, Syracilus would overcome this obstacle by creating various tools and graft them to his Archaenid physiology to become a walking Swiss Army knife full of gadgets and gizmos no standard Delot unit can adequately power.

He would eventually excel past even the more senior Delots in high society. And with the contributions he made to the Offices of Genetic Integrity at such a young age, Syracilus had the credentials to be elected to the Council and even drummed up support from the Archaenid slums.

But around the time of elections, one of the council members adopting a resolution requiring all council members to be converted Delots (the identity of the council member is unknown).

After which, Syracilus was told to forget this notion, convert into a Delot of his superior stock, & not to dishonor the station his father built for him by remaining an interior "flesh bag."

Aboard the Psygorellius:

Around this time, several Delot colonies were defecting to independent tyrannies in the clusters surrounding Ilocanos-7 (the original home planet of the Hellecian species) after being ravaged by swaths of slave revolts that seemingly materialized out of nowhere.

To find the source of these slave revolts without riling up the locals with a larger Delothian presence, the Council suggests Syracilus should investigate.

Seeing this as his way of earning some honor on his own accord and a means to push off his Matrix Conversion ceremony, Syracilus agrees and proposes to disguise his mission as a tour to collect data on the genetic diversity of the sector.

However, his father ruins his son's grab at glory and independence by having the council command Syracilus to divert from this itinerary and arrive at Ilocanos-7 a week earlier than expected.

Suspecting his father already discovered the identity of the perpetrator, Syracilus was incensed but followed his father's instructions. And landed on Ilocanos-7 during the pilot of the series.

After agreeing to become the ship's sponsor in order to escape with their lives, Syracilus uses his father's fortune to supply The Psygorellius with fuel, food, Ichor & political clout on civilized planets to levy fresh crew members and colonists to populate undiscovered planets in the name of the Collective.

There by making a name for himself as the first sponsor to find a passage into the Black Void Nebula.

Along the way, Syracilus also helps by upgrading their weaponry and tools with his mechanical acumen while also assisting the ship's data administrator Delot Unit 404-52DFSNT with ship repairs and code deciphering.

However, his hubris of wanting to overcome his father's legacy will have telling consequences for both him and the crew he's sponsoring with his father's resources.
