Divine King
The Divine King is a title given to the selected ruler of the Kingdom of the Spring Isles. Its said that the first Divine King was selected by Louksus, the Bringer of the Moon when the Mahri first came to the Spring Isles centuries ago.
Qualifications
To be chosen to become the Divine King, one must have both a deep personal connection with their people and a spiritual connection with Louksus. Ones personal connection with their people allows them to be a trusted and respected elder that helps their city or town thrive. Ones spiritual connection to Louksus comes from their devotion to prayer and respect to the land and the sea.
Appointment
During the reign of a Divine King on a night of a full moon, the King summons the elders of all the towns and cities in the Spring Isles to the Shrine of Louksus at the peak of the Shimmering Mountains. A ceremony is held at midnight where all who have been gathered sit under the light of the moon. Its said that during this time the moon will not cast its light on any who is not worthy to become the next Divine King. If one is chosen by the moon, then they are selected to be the Onn or the Next.
History
When the Mahri came to the Spring Isles sometime around 600 BEM, their people were scattered between the many islands. The once nomadic people began to settle and searched the many mountains and hills for the believed home of Louksus. When they were unable to find him they continued to build their new home. Over the years the Mahri tribes on different islands began to trade and establish a common goal for their people, a nation of elves at peace with the land and sea. Unable to agree on who would lead their people, many of the tribes left with the idea they would not be able to find a common leader. As tribes left its said that an elf by the name of Azhar Whitemoon took off to the mountains to pray to Louksus to guide him and his people. Legend tell that when he returned he came riding on the back of a great white wolf. All those in attendance believed that he was chosen by Louksus to unite their people. Azhar then rode the wolf from island to island bringing all tribes of the Mahri together to form the Kingdom of the Spring Isles and rule as the first Divine King.
