Áki te Tueta (Áki -te-Tuueta)

Translated to the Father of the People. Áki is the leader of the Teuta Eisom and is selected to rule the people based on their abilities. In times a great warrior has led the teuta through times of war. In times of peace, Áki that showed great promise in social, economic and other abilities have led the people.   Often seen as the King, the Áki is selected by the keepers of the Teuta. This title is granted to one who is best fitted for what the Teuta need. In times of war, a strong warrior is chosen to lead. As in times of famine, a great hunter or fisherman has been chosen to lead their people out of suffering. While this title is the highest form of authority of the Teuta, the title is not permanent. When a selected Áki is no longer needed, the title is removed and either passed on or held in waiting depending on what is needed by the Teuta. The title is held in waiting with the Keepers to ensure that no one who is not worthy can wear the crown. Those who have sought to unjustly obtain this title have faced the fury of the Alkejo.
