House Trevelyan
House Trevelyan is a noble family whose holdings are situated predominantly on the Eastern border of Neverwinter Wood in a loosely connected group of vassal states collectively referred to as 'Hotefeld' or sometimes Trevelyan Hold. The Trevelyans claim that they can trace their genealogy back as far as the founding of Neverwinter, however, the accuracy of this is disputed. House Trevelyan is known for trade, horses, and soldiering, with the region's horse trade bringing a great deal of their income, indeed it is said that their fondness for horses defines the peoples of Hotefeld, giving rise to a common saying; 'a felder learns to ride before they can walk'.
In recent times the region has been in turmoil after raids from Gnoll tribes resulted in the disappearance of the family's only legitimate heir, and what was later discovered to be a coup by its close neighbour; House Wulff, which resulted in the death of the family patriarch, Calder Trevelyan. The coup was exposed by neighbouring states and presented by House Trevelyan's heir himself, thought until that time to be dead.
In the time since, House Wulff has fortified its position and established martial rule over the populace, while House Trevelyan's heir has sought to consolidate his resources and allies in order to move against the occupying House Wulff.'
