Martem Foster

Martem Foster is the squire and adopted son of Lord Clive Trevelyan. According to Trevelyan, the boy was orphaned after an accident in Waterdeep claimed his parents' lives, both of whom were commoners, and as such it would be difficult to locate any formal record of the boy or his surviving family. Trevelyan and his fellow companions sought to locate relatives that might take the boy in, however, after having limited success in their search and the lad growing on them somewhat, Trevelyan and his partner, 'Veil of Starlight' decided to take the boy in as their own. In the time since, Martem has travelled north with his adopted father, and upon regaining his lordship Trevelyan saw to it that the boy would be recorded in Neverwinter's records as 'Martem Foster', the name 'Foster' being a local custom formally marking him in the eyes of the law and the people as the adopted ward of a nobleman. While it is evident that Trevelyan cares deeply for the lad as if he were his own the nobility at large takes a dim view of adoptive children from outside noble lineages, especially so in the case of commoners, and as such despite escaping life as a lone orphan Martem faces his own difficult journey navigating the thorny path of Sword Coast nobility.
