The Chazra Organization in The Flying Flux | World Anvil

The Chazra

A peaceable religion founded in 121 InE, the same year Chazos left the Flux. They have the most accurate histories of any organization, but are gradually losing members to the more active Parapoptsi cult that preys on suppressed fears and desires rather than uniting through peace.

Structure

There is one leader in the top-to-bottom hierarchical model they follow, and gradually descending ranks that are passed on to the most qualified applicants about every ten years. The highest ranks are typically exempt from this last rule and are considered life-long dedications unless ejected by a superior or resigned to begin retirement.

Public Agenda

They achieve unity through teachings of equality. The Chazri's public motives are to create a peaceful world, but some parts have been corrupted with time and money. It turns out, most people don't want to be equal with slaves and gladiators or are just terrified of admitting fault, so a few scattered churches compromised their teachings out of desperation. Unfortunately, desperation led to greed and a forced dissolution soon followed.

Assets

Compared to its former power, the current church has been critically weakened, but it is by no means small. Most hail as or are some variation of Chazri members, making it a very popular religious belief. Naturally, they own a decent portion of Flux's combined wealth, but nearly all of this is distributed to Lowland workers and other charitable causes. To be clear, this is excluding the Parapoptsi, which has been rejected and condemned by the church.

History

After its founding, the Chazra was caught in a whirlwind of members that were eager to make the world a wonderful place to live. Unsurprisingly, such enthusiasm died off and was quickly replaced by an incredibly dogmatic mentality, which gave birth to many superstitions about Chazos. Elitism and social branding were dealt with... poorly by Chazri leaders, which is why the Parapoptsi gained so much momentum despite the black-and-white contrast of its origin.

Divine Origins

Chazos himself subtly manipulated the creation of Chazra, hoping to maintain a wide-spread peace despite how this was statistically impossible. He even burned his teachings onto the side of a now sacred mountain before leaving Flux to its fate.

Priesthood

Knowledge and spiritual "purity" are some of this church's most valued traits, so most successful followers are very intelligent. Leaders are distinguished by specially-designed pins that represent their current rank, most of which are made of pure Gold that must be well-maintained.
