Dikaria Organization in The Flying Flux | World Anvil

Dikaria

The land of silk and money.

Imagine yourself at a high-class party surrounded by a sea of royal guests. Each self-important in their own minds and while not all of them are part of the royal family, most will spend their time hoping to be confused as one. This analogy very accurate describes Dikarian residents, the "highest" of all Highlanders. However, as far as kings go, (being a monarchy) there can be only one.

Structure

This country is governed by a royal family, who's actual political and intellectual power barely exceeds that of most other celebrities'. Current royalty is more of a face than anything else, since the developmental issues brought on by constant inbreeding reduced their level of competence dramatically. Had their ancestors not been intelligent, the royal line would have probably been eaten long ago (the primary difference between "animals" and "Fluxers" is individual intelligence level, since biology is inconsistent).

Public Agenda

Like any country, Dikaria merely wants to dominate the world. Don't act surprised, I'll bet you can't name a single country that isn't subtly working towards a similar goal.

Assets

While this city contains one spectacular display of wealth after another, its most famous landmark would have to be the upside-down cone that fortifies it. An impressive barrier meant to keep the general population safe from overzealous outsiders and "stick it" to a neighboring country which built the first country-wide dome.

Demography and Population

It is nearly impossible for an outsider to find a home in Dikaria due to the numerous family lines that have spread out and consumed the land. Trying to pinpoint a specific racial demographic is just difficult here as most other places, but if one were to categorize based solely on religious or political beliefs, they would find that most who live in these areas are adamant supporters of the Parapoptsi. Since nearly every family has some kind of stock in the major international corporations, they naturally assist the cult in making sure nothing terrible happens to their money.

Of course, I should probably mention that few Dikarians act out of stupidity, malice, or even greed. This is simply a result of a highly selective environment which permeates Dikaria and renders its citizens almost helpless. Those who question the Parapoptsi's intent often find their own role to be atrocious and die alone with an unbreakable guilt. Knowing only peace (and irritating gossip) has made them unfit to deal with reality.

Military

The Parapoptsi will often act to defend Dikaria, but their official military strength is fairly weak. Being heavily reliant on the Dikarian Cone has proven to be an effective defense strategy in the past and offense is not exactly where they specialize. Change isn't exactly sought after in Highland countries.

Technological Level

In this area, Dikaria is highly developed. Obviously, the citizens are able to afford just about anything, so everything from trinkets, gadgets, gizmos, and ground-breaking technological marvels can be found scattered throughout its lands. The Dikarian Cone is a bit more obvious, but an accurate example of where the country is, technologically speaking.

Education

Because a proper education is widely feared and people with money have little use for knowledge, Dikarian schooling has become elementary at best.

Author's Notes

I'm aware of what a dikarya is, but I meant for "Dikaria" to resemble two separate words instead of one.

Show spoiler
I'll give you a hint: one of the words is "aria", which is a long accompanied solo for a singer (usually in an opera). Another hint: it's like "soap opera", but instead it's "Dik Aria".
