The Dikarian Cone Building / Landmark in The Flying Flux | World Anvil

The Dikarian Cone

One of the Flying Flux's most effective defenses was built around the richest country in the Highlands, creating a literal paradise. This was done in response to Lippit's super-dome structure, which was initially designed by Linn Ennim.

Purpose / Function

This superstructure was built in the late 1900s in response to a neighboring city's revolutionary country-wide dome. The upside-down cone is hailed as the most heavily fortified barrier in the world, blowing the flashy mega-dome away with its excessive size. However, if anyone were to ask, the Dikarian Cone was built solely for residential protection and not to show off the country's limitless resources.

Design

As its name would suggest, the Dikarian Cone is a massive upside-down cone that was designed to protect Dikaria. It spans the entire circumference of this country and is completely invisible.

Alterations

The cone went from being semi-transparent to completely invisible in the mid-2000s because it would intensify the sun's heat and burn some minor neighboring cities. Now the highest percentage of cone-related deaths belong to fast-flying beasts and aircraft, which certainly is preferable to an inferno, so the protests stopped shortly after this modification.

Architecture

Undoubtedly the greatest architectural marvel ever made from Steel Wood, this barrier is completely invisible and has yet to fail. The sturdy, but lightweight cone imbued with excessive amounts of magical energy is second only to the Great Ice Mountain.
