Blianjen

Blianjen is a frontier hamlet in the Fellmire Duchy on the border of the Miasma.  The inhabitants of this tiny hamlet eke out a living from this inhospitable place by exporting peat and lumber to the nearest communities some four days travel from Blianjen.  This meager source of revenue is frequently enhanced by a paltry supply of iron and gold that prospectors laboriously draw forth from the surrounding swamplands.  About twice a year, the local Herbalist sends a hefty bale of dried marsh herbs off to the capitol of Fellmire, for which she is well compensated.

Government

A Council of Elders makes the most of the critical decisions in the hamlet.  With the advice and consent of the local Herbalist.

Industry & Trade

Lumber and peat are the main exports of the hamlet.  But a small population and labor force limits the profitability of these endeavors.   A slow trickle of iron ore and gold ore provide a welcome, if slight, flow of coin into the hamlet.   The year long process of gathering and drying herbs provides a solid income for the hamlet's Herbalist, which allows her to lend aid to those residents who may be falling behind.   Several stills provide the community with a ready supply of Fell Whisky.   Providing supplies and accommodations to those brave of foolish enough to venture into the Miasma has shown itself to be a surprisingly lucrative endeavor.

Infrastructure

The majority of buildings in this hamlet are wood and mud huts. There is a small Feast-hall in the center of the hamlet, where most of the social interactions of the hamlet occur. Next to that, there is an Inn where many adventurers and hunters spend their last night before venturing off into The Miasma. Calling it an Inn may be wishful thinking, but that is how the locals refer to it. The local Herbalist also maintains a dry-house for the curing of her herbs. A lumbermill and a peat warehouse are situated on the western side of the hamlet. There are a few stills scattered throughout the surrounding marshland, which provides the residents with a steady supply of Fell Whisky.
The borders of Fellmire Duchy are rife with hard scrabble communities that frequently disappear without a trace almost as fast as they appear.  They are oft filled with individuals who hold no desire for their existence to be know to the wider world.
