I know some people can be dedicated towards their idols, but never have I seen people turn it into some cult.
Although the Siren Melpomene is no more, deep within the city of Busmutt her song and dance is still performed. A few of her most devoted followers have gathered to form a cult, simply known as Melpomene's Fanclub: a group of individuals who have endure the ravages of time, for centuries spreading her influence beneath the eyes of the common folk.
Structure
The fanclub is organised only with some form of order. The main leading figure of the cult is known as the "Club Leader", responsible for directly commanding and giving orders to those below them. Said leader is only chosen by the previous one, as they have been personally "chosen" by their goddess Melpomene herself.
Below them a small group of individuals ensure the protection and safety of the club's existence, spreading their belief across the city by recruiting new followers. Most of the time this involves submitting them to her songs, brainwashing their minds and encouraging the growth of their cult.
History
Several centuries ago, Melpomene came to Busmutt to seize control, planning a full-blown attack on the mainland of Sichelan. However, her ruling would be only temporarily as the Saviours of Busmutt took her down, freeing the city from her influence...
...At least, that was what first was believed. Before her death, the Siren found a way to create a few sleeper agents who would make her return. After her death, they eventually awakened, beginning the first phases of setting up an underground cult.
Throughout the first years, their first members were but victims taken from the street and brainwashed overnight, slowly exposing the city to Melpomene's song once more. As said following grew, the Siren's power did as well, soon enough turning a mere fanclub into an official cult.
Tenets of Faith
- Devote yourself to Melpomene, for she is your only god.
- Worship her being, show your dedication to her divine being.
- Spread her song, share her melodies. Make the world be known of her perfection.
- You are one of her Muses. Her word is your demand.
Worship
Since most of the devotion towards Melpomene is forbidden, their worship is done in seclusion away of any peaking eyes or amongst other members.
When in public, many keep their devotions down to subtle dress codes that amongst the crowds do not directly show up, but still show respect to Melpomene. Most mainly dress themselves up with gold accents or star symbols. Things like head bands, ear rings, rings and so forth tend to be common accessories worn by followers. Some even tie their hair in a ponytail to imitate the hairstyle of their goddess.
Between the walls of the cult itself their devotion becomes more loud and clear, as the Siren's songs are performed for the entire night, blasted during raves. Everything from posters to statues are created here, big shrines worshipping Melpomene with chanting galore.
Granted Divine Powers
Few followers are known to be granted any abilities when they join the cult, all except for the most devoted of fans. These particular worshippers are granted a fraction of their idol's voice, allowing them to speak and sing in a tone considered almost entrancing.
Others instead have devastating screams, able to use sonic spells that make their voice deadlier than any weapon. Lesser devotees may only hurt your ears, but the highest ranking members easily can make buildings crush with their screeches.
