Xexon League
The governing body of the colonies of the Emerald Lands, the Xexon League is a conglomeration of powerful guild families. The most powerful of these families, the Sarri, Veska, and Mata. Each of these powerful families jealously guard a secret passage between the Demi-plane of the Emerald Lands and the Homeland. This control of passage provides the Xexon League, and its members, a complete monopoly on the transport of treasure, people, and raw materials between the Homeland and the Colonies.
The League is a confederacy seeking to maintain law and order within the rapid economic expansion of the colonies. Each family fears that another will compromise their access to passage and claims and thus a common law has been established to prevent the chaos and violence that marked the early years of colonial expansion. The League also sponsors the House of Sages, to whom falls the task of researching and catagorizing artifacts and relics recovered from the fallen Tamen Empire.
Demography and Population
The Xexon League is a diverse mix of races and peoples from the homeland, with guilds representing the interests of a large range of mercantile and mercenary interest.
The total population of those who live within the territories of the Xenon League number some 45,000. The vast majority of these live in the capital city, but the rest are scattered across outposts, villages, and the estates of the wealthy.
Like the People of The Sword Coast that initially populated the Emerald Lands, the folk of the Xenon League are diverse. All races are represented amongst their populations, although by far humans are the most populous of the races. The great Families that control most of the power in the League are also diverse. The Sarri family are high-elves, The Mata are a clan of dragon born, and the Veshka are humans.
Territories
The colonial territory of the Xexon League extend east and west from the edge of the Southwind Mountains at Brin to the coastal plains of the Noble Mountain Range. Their territories extend north and south from the edge of the Elucid Forest to the southern coast. Their North-East most territorial gains are marked by the edge of the Central Plains.
Military
The military force of the Xenon league act as a policing force, recruiting from across the colonies as a non-partisan effort for security. In times of war and open conflict the private forces of the Families, primarily elite units of loyalists and highered mercenaries fight for the interests of the families. This occassionally means cooperation, but more often is denoted by backbiting and political paranoia.
Foreign Relations
The Xexon League, as a mercantile state in a demi plane, refuses the authority of any outside political power. With their absolute control of passage between the planes the governments of the Homeland have no choice but to recognize their pseudo- sovereignty or risk their access to the lucrative goods the League provides.
