Psycalian Forests

Psycalian Forests are the many forests of Psycalia, some coniferous, others deciduous, but almost all of them share one phenomena, an electromagnetic aura that can alter the mind of those who enter. These forests contain various types of trees and other flora, along with a few small ponds. They are often incredibly foggy, which makes it even harder to navigate.

Geography

Psycalian Forests contain plenty of close together trees, both deciduous and evergreen. They also contain shrubs, short grasses, as well as small ponds and are sometimes quite close to rivers and lakes, which are often the sources of the heavy fog these forests tend to get.

Ecosystem

Only a few Psycalian animals live here, knowing how the electromagnetic aura can even effect some psychic elementals, only a few are truly immune to the effects of the EM Aura, those being Psychocybin Deer along with Mystic Starlings and Pathosis Squirrels. All the non-sapients that live there are uneffected due to their lower intelligence. The three sapients mentioned have evolved over centuries to strengthen their resistences until they became completely protected against the EM Wavelangths.

Ecosystem Cycles

During Spring, Psycalian Forests florish, with the trees and grasses starting to grow after months of dormancy in the Winter. It also grows rather humid as the fog begins to roll in. During Summer, Psycalian Forests grow even more, sometimes to the point of choking other plants out, it grows even more hot and humid, with even more rain, the fog can grow so dense you can only see vague outlines of trees, even the ones you are directly in front of. During Fall, the fog begins to slowly disapate as it grows less humid and rains less, some plants enter dormancy and the wind starts to kick up. During the Winter, Psycalian forests as a whole enter dormancy, at least, the deciduous ones, the Evergreen ones remain. The animals of the deciduous forests tended to leave the forest to go find living plants to eat as most of the flora has either died or started dormancy, they return once Spring does.

Localized Phenomena

There are EM Wavelengths that gather almost exlusively within Psycalian Forests, they cause a condition known as Wanderer's Delirium sometimes also called Wanderer's Psychosis, which causes Brain Fog, Confusion, Hallucinations, and Delusions, one after another, with symtoms stacking up.

Climate

Psycalian Forests, being within Psycalia, tend to be moist and temperate, although, the forests themselves are generally more humid then the open prairies and rolling hills of Psycalia.

Fauna & Flora

Psycalian Forests contained Psychocybin Deer, Mystic Starlings and Pathosis Squirrels, along with a few non-sapients, namely, the Great Dreamer, the Dazzler Butterfly, Stone Pikes and sometimes Silver Rivers Breams. The life forms of Psycalian Forests lived in these forests because they provided an ideal place of protection against attackers as well as a food and water source. Psychocybin Deer, in particular, took a great liking to Psycalian Forests, to the point that some have even choosen to live there in the modern day. The plant life that grows in Deciduous Psycalian Forests caused their fur to gain enough nutrients for Euphorium Mushrooms to grow on their backs.

Natural Resources

Psycalian Forests do have Wood from the trees, but one is likely more interested in the Euphorium Mushrooms the Psychocybin Deer grow on their back, along with any eye catching flowers. The Mushrooms in particular sell for a decent chunk of gold, but are typically not legal to sell, at least not to random folk.

History

Psycalian Forests are one of the many places within Psycalia, the Forests formed because nearby lakes and rivers allowed for growth of many trees, along with incredibly healthy soil.

Tourism

They are often visited by explorers who want to see every inch of land that can be traversed, though, without proper preparations or timing, they will often end up with Wanderer's Delirium, trapped in psychosis until they are given outside help.
