Sognir

Sognir is the god of magic and innovations, enjoying any inventive spirits and new discoveries. Worship is usually of a more modern kind, especially in Amridge, where he is seen with especially high regard. Although he is usually good-natured, he usually believes the discovery is of higher importance than the means of how one got there. He is the brother of Rogna, who was killed during the Doomsday Century.   Next to being the god of magic and innovation, his domains include or have included creativity as well as originality and artisanal craft. He is known to strike individuals with sudden inspiration, and has been suggested as a possible driver for the invention of airships. Although he is a divine being, he is unique wherein he also has a certain amount of power over arcane forces, which usually exist separately to the gods.   After the end of the Doomsday Century, Sognir’s holy symbol was changed to be a single snowdrop surrounded by a cog. Before that, it was simply an ornamented (usually with sparks) cog. This change happened as a reference to the Grim Snowdrops that sprouted all across Syoll after the death of his sister.   Interestingly, Sognir has few actual followers, and near to no priests. Instead, those who invoke his name are usually only followers of his ideals. The relationship between someone who is faithful and him has been described as a relationship between peers or even friends, with direct help usually coming in simple advice.
