Driven by a strong sense of righteousness, a history of great works, and an inflated ego, the Silverblood Clan is a steadying presence in any community. While some still live in High Table, many have found a new home amongst the Mezal Mountains creating the grand and glorious free cities of the western range. Often seeing themselves as slighted by the worshippers of Abadar, they have gone on to show the mighty skills of those whose heart is with their clan, and whose soul works the mighty forges with Torag.
Physical Description:
While as hardy and compact as most
dwarves, their height is slightly higher, some reaching as high as 4’10”. They also tend to not always have the same obsession with longer hair or beards. While most dwarves believe it baffling, the Silverbloods will occasionally take a human in marriage. As long as the human has a deep belief in Torag, and willingness to renounce their name and become a Silverblood, they can become clan members. All children in this inauspicious relationship are Silverblood dwarves.
Society:
Silverbloods are the most personally industrious of all the dwarves of the Dycides. Silverbloods are lovers of history and tradition, and their long lifespan leads to far less in the way of generational shifts in attitudes, styles, fashions, and trends than shorter-lived races exhibit. If a thing is not broken, they do not fix it or change it; and if it is broken, they fix it rather than replace it. Thrifty as a rule and mercantile in nature, Silverbloods are loath to discard anything unless it is truly ruined and unable to be fixed. At the same time, Silverbloods’ meticulous, near-obsessive attention to detail and durability in their craftsmanship makes that a rare occurrence, as the things they make are built to last.
Relations:
Setting them apart from their cousins, Silverbloods are a relatively social clan. Skilled in social negotiation and charming in their perseverance toward their ideals, they try their hardest not to rub a potential customer or coworker the wrong way. Any race with strong ties to tradition or a long lived nature, some elves and genieborn they tend to see as great friends to have. They look at humans and other short lived races as unrefined but potential successes to be worked toward being more enlightened.
Alignment and Religion:
Silverbloods often define themselves by being religious since birth. Torag is the core to many traditions in the Free Cities, and the Silverblood Clan often expects devotion to it’s ideals in all things. There is the occasional black sheep but most Silverbloods are Lawful Good. Though their good nature still always expects fair reward for services rendered.
Adventurers:
Those that leave their cities are often inspired to see the great works of their past generations, or the architecture on the ancients. While constantly dreaming of their home and hearth, when a Silverblood visits a new place they see it’s potential for construction, or a weapon to be refined. Their higher education and affinity often leads them into less traditional casting roles like wizards or sorcerers, though their passion for faith will lead them toward being champions or clerics of Torag.
