Agreement of the Lasting Peace

At the end of the Elven-Orcish War , the sovereignties of the world were concerned about the power that Zhaliya had built up and who they were going to conquer next. Out of these fears, the agreement of the lasting peace was formed. The formal agreement is that Zhaliya will stop expanding its borders, otherwise it will be fighting a war against all of the sovereignties. An unspoken part of this agreement, was that their would be no more major wars in the world. This unspoken portion of the agreement has proven to be the most influential as all of the soverignties have so far been unwilling to test the agreement, even if it is unspoken. Instead they have been focusing on internal affairs and trade.

Most people know that this only temporary and wait anxiously to see who will be the first to break the Lasting Peace.The newly formed Draconic Empire to the east has many people worried that the end of the Lasting Peace could come on the wings of dragons. Others are worried about threats more close to home, like Vifdra's Sovereignty , Kih , or the Ostarian Empire .

Zhaliya has technically broken the agreement with their war against the Wild Lands. They claim that the war is necessary to protect Zhaliyan citizens from Wilder raids and that the agreement was only meant to keep Zhaliya from going to war with any other sovereignties, something which the Wilders lack. The other sovereignties have so far gone along with this. The other sovereignties don't really care about the Wilders and most are actually happy to see civilization to be brought to them.

Purpose

The original purpose of the agreement was not to put an end to major wars. It was realized though that to be able to carry out their threat if necessary, the other soverignties had to be able to cooperate with each other and not be divided. If they fought with each other, Zhaliya might take advantage of it to conquer them one by one. Therefore, the unspoken agreement to stop major wars was born.
