The Wardens of the Central Plains
The Wardens of the Central Plains was the name applied to a short lived military alliance between the cities of Zalgurim and Klaractazum in the 34th century APC during the Time of Terrors.
Two cousins, Jera and Talkon Ward shown at the head of the article, took control of their respective cities with ruthless cunning and the application of magical training they had both received at the Institute of Magical Analytics.
Together they formed the Wardens of the Central Plains, a minor pun on their surname, to consolidate their power, believing that as an alliance they were in a stronger position to defend against rival city states. No doubt in doing this, they were conscious of the great history of the Old Pale Empire which began in a similar way when these two same cities allied after the Myruthean Unification Wars thousands of years earlier. But the Wardens of the Central Plains would prove to have even less success than the New Pale Empire in forging a stable government recognised over any large region or for any significant span of time.
In fact, the Wardens of the Central Plains would merit no more than a footnote in the history books were it not for their role in the creation and disasterous deployment of the Silent Thunder.
