Sentius Operated Medical Facility for Anatomical Repair and Improvement

Origin and Purpose

The Sentius Operated Medical Facility for Anatomical Repair and Improvement was opened over a decade ago in the central sector of the space station The Variance. It is an advanced medical station wholely operated by the Hivemind Sentius, a race of human-like androids that have come to populate The Variance and various sectors in Delta Space over the past few decades. They are highly advanced, easily being the most sophisticated autonomous technology in Delta Space outside of a few Abonormality related instances. They are highly intelligent and often extremely literal, hence the name of their facility, Sentius Operated Medical Facility for Anatomical Repair and Improvement. Many residents don't overly like the lengthy name due to its obscene length and often shorten it to the equally dismal sounding SOMFARI. But at least the latter is more convenient to say. As the name indicates this facility's purpose is to assess and treat various injuries and maladies of paying patients.   Due to their shared knowledge and highly capable processors, the Hivemind Sentius are able to quickly assess an ailment or injury and conduct whatever medical procedures they feel are best suited to deal with the issues at hand. And they have an incredibly high success rate, and will often turn down cases they have determined to far gone or untreatable. In these circumstances, they are kind enough to refund any spent fees, minus any transport costs and a small clerical fee of course.   Recently, the Hivemind Sentius has decided they have enough resources to expand the services of the SOMFARI and have begun construction on large medical ships. Their intent is to fly around the various sectors of The Delta Space and dole out their services to anyone who is in need, and can pay for their apt services. This service has not yet been launched but is expected to run a trial with a single ship in a nearby sector in the coming months.

Payment and Process

In order to have any sort of procedure done within the walls of SOMFARI, one must first ensure that they have the funds to pay. As the Hivemind Sentius's services do not come free, or cheap. A potential payment, whether it is an emergency or otherwise, must first access the facility's intact form, easily accessed via a network-connected device on the station. After this has been filled out by the patient, or an authorized attendant on their behalf, they will receive a confirmation note with an attached invoice giving an estimate of the cost of the potential procedure, delivery included if requested. These estimates often change depending on the actual work done but it is done as a "gesture of good faith" by the Hivemind to their patient in order for them to adequately put aside the appropriate funds. If accepted, the patient will have to put in their payment information and half of the estimated funds are then held in trust by the facility and are credited to the final cost upon the patient's discharge.   Once the patient arrives they are immediately taken to a clean room in which the patient is the only occupant, here they are checked over by a Sentius attendant and an initial assessment is made. Regardless of the circumstance, the patient must stay here in quarantine for the length of time prescribed by the Sentius upon processing of the initial assessment. Quickly after the initial assessment, any emergency painkillers or procedures are conducted, only enough to save the patient's life if they are in immediate peril. Once the patient is stable and secured a full diagnostic assessment is conducted and appropriate medical procedures are immediately conducted. Once the patient has recovered sufficiently they are discharged and provided with any medication and instructions for recovery needed. The average time spent in the SOMFARI before discharge is twelve to forty-eight hours. The cost ranges but is always much higher than the average cost of treatment elsewhere and has woefully bankrupted those that have underestimated the cost of their medical services.    Due to the facility's high costs, it has become a haven for the rich and is popular especially with high-ranking corporation members looking to extend their life or get important procedures done with little cause for concern. Because of this, The Hivemind Sentius has come under intense scrutiny from the general public. They are accused of segregating their advanced medical technologies and procedures behind a hefty payment wall which has essentially blocked the underprivileged and the poor from getting potentially life-saving treatments. The Hivemind Sentius has had little care for these accusations and continues to go about its work with the SOMFARI.

Facility Location and Infrastructure

The SOMFARI building is located in the central hub of The Variance, though due to it being a fairly recent addition to the station its location is a fair distance from the landing docks. The Hivemind Sentius purchased the property from a real estate conglomerate that specializes in the resale of undervalued property on The Variance. The conglomerate had never dealt with such beings as the Hivemind Sentius and ended up selling the property at a much more reasonable cost than they were intending, as they were hoping to swindle the newcomers to the space station. This was not to be the case, as the Hivemind quickly took possession of their new acquisition and began work on repairs and retrofitting.    The building, in fact, is a slice of a megastructure common to the Variance called a Column. Which is a large vaguely rectangular building that stretches on for dozens of floors. Often times including offshoots, tunnels, and side structures that connect to other Columns in the station's central hub. The portion in which the Hivemind purchased was roughly two dozen floors of a medium-sized Column made up of roughly eighty or so floors. A complete retrofitting of a building like this one would normally take workers years to complete, but for the efficient Hivemind Sentius, their repairs only took three months to complete before opening their doors.    The new facility is outfitted with the most advanced medical technology seen in the galaxy so far. Medical treatment in the galaxy is tricky, especially on space stations where supplies are limited. Somehow the Sentius have figured out ways to keep supplies efficiently and use their advanced technology in ways that would never have come to the mind of a biological creature. The inside is unlike anything most are accustomed to in the galaxy, being clean and sleek in design. Much of the buildings, structures, and technology in The Delta Space are clunky and low-tech feeling.    The one snag that took some time for the Hivemind Sentius to figure out was the distance between SOMFARI and the loading docks on the other side of the central hub. It was not efficient to hire local short-range drivers to haul their goods, the biological drivers were prone to accidents and often took longer routes that made their deliveries inefficient and late. This problem also extended to the arrival of patients, those that couldn't bring themselves in found it difficult to navigate the twisting labyrinth of The Variance, and since SOMFARI was a private venture there was no way other public hospital transport would deliver their patients to their door. So, after some time in research and development, the Hivemind Sentius constructed a fleet of Short-Range Automated Patient and Delivery Transports, the S.R.A.P.D fleet is unmanned vehicles ranging in size, completely operated by the Hivemind network itself, that are sent out in order to pick up packages and patients upon request, patients much confirm payment details before one of these transports are sent out. These small vehicles only take the most efficient path to and from their destinations, powered by the immense calculation powers of the Hivemind Sentius network, and have created an efficiency that the Hivemind is quite pleased with.
