Anthrozoa Korali - Koralians
Origins and Extinction
Physiology and Growth
Koralians varied in size, shape, and colour vastly and were technically comprised of many different sub-species depending on the region in which they were grown into adulthood. They could be of any range of colours, blue, green, orange, or pink, some Koralians even take on patterns that resemble their home stretch of coral reef. Koralians could height and weight varied greatly, with some only reaching three feet tall and eighty pounds, while others grew up to seven feet tall and weigh several hundred pounds.
The same was true for their bodily structures, some had bipedal structures, while others had four or more legs to keep themselves upright and mobile. It all depended on the needs of the Koralian in their chosen habitat. Koralians had the ability to alter their structures to a limited degree, breaking off pieces of themselves and reattaching them to new locations in which they wanted new appendages to grow. As long as they had the nutrients required to help their growth they were not overly limited to what shapes they could become.
Koralians are comprised of a type of "hard" coral, which only grows to adulthood with sufficient amounts of a specific kind of algae that only grows on their homeworld. This means they can only grow to adulthood, and heal any sort of serious external wounds by spending time in their homeworlds waters where the algae grows. This unfortunately means, that now that the world has become decimated by plague, their waters and the algae within it hopelessly poisoned, they have no way to grow and heal making life impossible.Hope for Survival
Unbeknownst to the wider public of the Delta Space a small colony of Koralians still lives, quietly tucked away on a small tropical planet on the edges of western O.Sec F.
The Koralians, years before the event that doomed their homeworld, sent off a small delegation to colonize the far-off planet, as a test to see if their special strain of algae could survive in a new environment.
Unfortunately, the crew never reported back in and it was assumed lost. But, they were in fact successful, and the algae thrived in the new environment creating a secondary home in which the Koralians could survive.
But, due to unforeseen circumstances that destroyed their ability to travel and communicate across space the Koralian delegates were stranded on what would become their new home, unable to contact their brethren on the other side of O.Sec F.
This unwittingly has created a potential saviour for the race, a new haven for the species to potential grow anew.Cover-up "Accident"
The plague that ravaged the Koralian homeworld has never officially been identified, nor has its source of origin. However, in actuality, the plague was caused by a hazardous spill, perpetrated by a MegaCorpo transport that wrecked on a nearby asteroid field while travelling through the system.
The material which the tankard was carrying, was an important lubricant used in mining machines and Asteroid Belt Mining and Haulers in the nearby Exon Authority territory. This lubricant was highly toxic to the algae on the planet upon which it spilled, acting much like a plague or virus would.
The MegaCorpo quickly covered up the incident and fled the area, as the discovery of the accident would have exposed their working within the Exon Authority's space without permission.
Which would have caused a long legal battle and likely a loss of funds. A cruel decision that unknowingly led to the destruction of an entire species, a further reason why the MegaCorpo in question does not wish for this information to come to light.Summary
