The Hot Zone
Demographics
Only the most desperate scavs and combat zoners make bones in the Hot Zone.
Government
The zone has no city manager and is only protected by the NCPD in theory alone.
Industry & Trade
Most in the zone scavenge to survive, often searching the ruins of old hospitals for useful med supplies.
Infrastructure
Shattered skyscrapers, buried hospitals, and entombed vehicles litter the zone in abundance.
Districts
- The Old Bank Block: Housing all of the old banks of Night City, the Bank Block is mostly rubble but it was never cleared out officially.
- The Old City Center: Only radioactive ruins remain of the once-bustling City Center.
- The Old Corporate Center: Once the heart of the Corporations of Night City, the Corporate Center is a ruin of its former glory.
- The Old Medical Center: Largely irradiated, the Old Medical Center houses many hospitals buried under rubble.
Guilds and Factions
- Maelstrom: A combat gang with a might makes right philosophy. Their leader, Warlock, has transformed Maelstom into a surprisingly effective criminal enterprise.
- Reckoners: A nihilistic cult preaching about an upcoming Harvest of Souls. Always looking for donations, often from someone’s unconscious body.
- Various scav groups too small to name.
- Lightning Cats: A Bioexotic cat gang operating out of the Hot Zone.
History
Formerly the central city Corporate Zone. Now, a bleak landscape riddles with twisted, wrecked skyscrapers.
Points of interest
- The Ashcroft Hotel: Once the most luxurious hotel in Night City. Now the center of Maelstrom’s Hot Zone scavenging operations.
- The N54: The former home of Network 54 in Night City. The tallest structure still standing in the Hot Zone – climbing it and tagging the top has become a tradition among urbanauts.
- Toggle’s Temple: An underground firearms range and obstacle course run by a conspiracy theorist named Toggle.
- Totentanz: A chrome metal club and home base for Maelstrom.
