Will-o'-the-wisps

Will-o'-the-wisps are a mostly nocturnal species of Fae often found in watery and marshy regions of Glitterstone Hollow. They are recognisable by their bright blue-green glow that stands out against the dark night and their singing voice that carries across the land on still nights. They are one of the smallest Fae, second only to Heather Pixies, standing at around 17cm tall.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Will-o'-the-wisps are small humanoids with glowing blue-green skin and moth-like wings. Their proportions are fairly child-like by human standards, featuring fairly short limbs and a large head. They have a slightly ethereal appearance, making it difficult to pinpoint features as their glow blurs their outline and details to the point that they appear as little more than glowing blue points of light from a distance.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Will-o'-the-wisps have a mixed diet, while they will happily live on the fruit and flower based diets common in other Fae, a significant amount of their diet consists of insects. Their glow attracts moths and other insects in the night, luring them directly into the range of the Will-o'-the-wisps.

Additional Information

Facial characteristics

Their facial features, beyond their large bright-white eyes, are hard to make out due to their blurry glow, making their face appear near featureless. Hidden beneath the fuzzy light, they have a delicate pointed nose and a small mouth. Their mouth has fairly human-like teeth, similar to other Fae, though with slightly sharper incisors.
