Lofi

Lofi are a group of humans, native to their homeworld, which they simply refer to as Home.

Appearance

Lofi, being a completely separate instance of human from the Skyfolk/Seafolk instance, do hold some differences, but are still recognisably human. They have a fairly average height, sitting at a midpoint between Skyfolk and Seafolk, heights averaging between 5'5'' and 6'2''. They also have a second pair of canines in place of what would be their first premolar, a trait common with most mammals in their world. They also have less significant sexual dimorphism than earth humans in terms of proportions.

Most notably is their unique colouration that makes them instantly recognisable. They, like most mammals in their world, have an extra set of pigments, coloured cyan, magenta and yellow respectively. These pigments occur throughout their body, though fade when alongside melanin, meaning they are only noticeable in areas with little or no melanin. Lofi are typically lacking melanin in their hair, fingertips and other extremities, allowing these colourful pigments to take their place. Due to their ability to take the place of melanin, these pigments will often take over in cases of albinism and vitiligo.   Each individual has their own specific hue caused by the proportions of each of the 3 pigments, as determined by their genetic makeup. This colour is referred to as their "heart hue", considered to be the colour of their spirit. Typically, individuals will only have significant amounts of 2 of these pigments and very little of the 3rd, meaning their heart hues are typically vibrant or pastel colours.

Culture

Major language groups and dialects

Lofi converse and write in Interworld Basic. Their local dialect has little difference from the standard language, though phrases are typically more focused on the natural world than social constructs.

Average technological level

The Lofi were the first people to manage to travel to other worlds and establish contact with others outside of their own world, first flying the homeworld of the Skyfolk around 170 years ago. While small numbers of Fae did settle on other worlds around a hundred years prior and the technologically advanced Soliil had the ability to do so, the lofi were the first to establish contact, thanks to the fae being secluded away and the Soliil's disdain for the worlds beyond their own.   Technologically, they are a few decades behind that of earth, mostly due to their culture's near deification of the natural world slowing things down. Their minimal use of mining, or industrialism lead to a lack of the necessary resources to advance technologically. Prior to being able to regularly visit other worlds and trade, they primarily used what could be gathered by hand. They managed to achieve fairly reliable powered flight that allowed them to reach other worlds, primarily by gliding on thermals.   Since trade was established with other worlds, most significantly the Merfolk and Seafolk of the Sea of Ondine, they have been able to rapidly accelerate development, though they still stick to their beliefs and still keep things like manufacturing on a small scale.   Their technology is comparable to that of the 90s on Earth, though there are a few small leaps ahead. They have access to 3D printer analogues that can be used to build things like electrical components that are too small and precise to be built by their own hands.

Common Customs, traditions and rituals

The Lofi culture regards the natural world as incredibly important, sometimes more so than themselves. This near deification of nature means they build their lives around nature where they can: homes are built on legs instead of foundations to maintain the ground beneath and give animals shelter, wood and stone are gathered only as needed and pollution is heavily controlled so fossil fuels and other unclean fuel sources go unused.
