United Provinces of Dryn

Notoriously, the sundered coast was once home to a frighteningly-large fleet of pirates. Some whisper that is still the case, no matter how well-mannered their High Admiral behaves in the United Nations of Primus.   Dryn makes no attempt to hide its chequered past, though pride in its piratical history is officially discouraged.

Structure

The provinces are each ruled by a Commodore, who manages their territory via hand-selected Captains. Commodores operate with a high degree of independence, but must respond to a summons from the High Admiral when given.

Culture

Though the territory is mostly composed of a dense island chain along the broken coast, citizens of Dryn live on the water. Many villages are built on elevated stilts, to help them weather annual floods, with some being built over the water itself. Most children can swim before they can walk, and the average adult knows far more about the sailing of any given sea vessel than about driving a cart or riding a land-locked mount.

Public Agenda

Officially, the Admiralty is focused on improving the lives of its citizens through trade. This makes sense, as the coast itself is a relatively new landform compared to the rest of Primus, and is still building up from the ruin of the Kraken's Devastation

Territories

The United Provinces extend from the southern border of the Callistan Peninsula to the borders of the Swamp of Oblivion, extending twice the usual nautical distance into the Sundered Sea before giving sway to Oceanus.

Foreign Relations

The Province's relation with the Diarchy of Callist is strained by its history of naval warfare and piracy. To this day, the two states compete for trade from Oceanus, though Callist's advantage of being on the mouth of Kraken Bay tips the scales in the Diarchy's favor.   Dryn has warmer relations with the island nations of Oceanus, who value their finely-wrought ships-of-war, and who ask fewer questions about the origins of traded valuables.
