Dragon's Return Myth in The Cradle of Worlds | World Anvil

Dragon's Return

The Dragons have not been seen on Gorel for several human generations. While there are many theories regarding why they departed or were killed, there are a few prevalent concepts as too when and how they will return. No evidence has been presented that this will actually happen, but most folk believe in the return of the Dragons.   There are three primary approaches to the discussion of the return.   The first discussed approach is that the dragons are dead, and will return miraculously birthed from natural wonders of the world. This is favorited often by nature lovers, druids as they also believe that dragons are a force of magic in the world and are as natural as the trees and rivers which are only cut down and redirected not eliminated from the world. Whose who believe this place gifts or say prayers at magical places or natural features, hoping that they will curry favor with the dragons on their return. One of the most prominent places this is seen is at the Sky and Sea Mountain on the outskirts of Soramizu .   The second approach is to believe that dragons hid from the world, and are waiting for a particular series of events before unleashing themselves on the world to create a third Dragon Imperium. These folk tend to believe in the need to accumulate emergency stores, and build up enough power to resist draconic tyranny when it returns. They often use curses like; Kind as a Dragon's Claw, Bite Me (short for May a dragon bite me if I am lying), and Dragon's Piss.   The third approach to the return is like the second except that it is believed the dragons are just asleep and will awaken and go on just as before. These people think the least about the return and are focused on the practical side of things. If they are descendants of business parters of dragons, they keep the accounts ready, not that there are many in this situation, but they are prepared wither way.
