215: Calling All Beasts

General Summary

Warmer weather and brighter days bring the Brewery's first annual Spring Fling dance. As teens from around the city converge on the Friday night event, a secret event has been announced by Ty, the new leader of a mysterious group of awakened rifts. Kit, Ravyn, and Bee ready themselves to reunite for the first Call of the Beasts.

It’s Time to Take a Shot

• Ryan Roswell is spending the evening at Karaoke Katy’s so he will not be involving himself this evening.
• Camera closes in on the desk of Romeo Manuel. A local production company owner with a reputation as an up-and-comer who’s willing to take chances.
• He opens a plain black envelope; within it is a script and a CD.
• He plays the CD…. It’s Time To Take A Shot!
  

What are you Wearing?

• Kit’s been invited to Carol's “Spring Fling” dance at the The Brewery by “Bee” Nubia and Ravyn
• Ty has a big announcement to make for all The Beasts
• Kit starts a group chat asking what everyone is wearing to the dance. Ravyn panics cuz he doesn't have anything formal. Bee interrupts and tells them to focus on the important issue, Stopping Ty.
• As a protégé of Eugenia, Kit puts together a trendy look.
• We find out that Kit sometimes gently nudges Aunt Thea into remembering things favorably for them.
• They arrive to find the Brewery bustling with activity, Ravyn and Bee are waiting inside.
• A small group is outside debating when they should go in.
  

Meet the Mistfits!

• The Mistfits introduce themselves; Lenny, Doc, Jimmy, and Allie.
• Kit recognizes Lennie (Info-Dump Girl) who shared an extremely long explanation of genetic uniqueness and gained her entry to the secret group of Rifts, aka the Beasts.
  • Abby "Doc" - "Abby is here to find out WTF is going on here AND keep a hairy eyeball on Jimmy."
  • Allie - Allie is dressed for a dance about 50 years ago and very excited to be here no matter what is happening.
  • Lennie - "Ellen/Lennie is here to be the know-it-all of your dreams!"
  • Jimmy - "Hey, ah, so I'm Jimmy...so this seems like it might be interesting. And, ah, ya know... and also, ah-ah-ah there's, ya know, a girl here I know... NO! It just seems like it might be interesting."
  • Jake - He's not present and no one has seen him since the collapse of the Lockwood Asylum.
• Lennie had heard there was going to be some kind of sacrifice and they came to try to stop it.
• MC reminds crew that the Mistfits : Initiation adventure occurred exactly one week ago today.
• The Mistfits begin to tell their crazy encounter from with Father Patrick-Patrick, the bull, creepy ghost lady, and a hellhound, creepy old man (Spider), and a very handsome crossing guard.
• Allie is the only one who became an initiated Beast.
• Jimmy has been pining for Lennie in a tree outside her window for the last week.
• The Mistfits have been gathering to research the mysteries around the events they were involved in.
• Lennie is a student volunteer at the library. She overheard two girls talking in the library who mentioned "Beasts" "Ty" "Sacrifice"
• Doc is investigating “Beasts” because she’s a monster hunter.
• There are too many copies of Weathering Heights at the library. Ugh, required reading.
• They shared the TikTok, Tag, & Take that Ty assigned to them.
• Doc shares her whip tattoos on her arms.
• Kit invites the Mistfits to join them as they go inside to meet Ravyn and Bee.
  

It's the Brewery

• The two main areas in the Brewery:
  1. The Old Bottling Floor- A transformed "open concept" space where the newly designed indoor parkour and skatepark were built, serves as a gathering places for kids to hangout. Many kids are trying out the equipment.
  2. Formerly known as Blonsky's Beer Hall- Old rental space for events with tables and large space for the dance floor. Quite a few kids are at the Spring Fling.
• The whole place is busy tonight. Lots of kids are hanging out at the Spring Fling dance and lots of activity at the two indoor parks. Kit recognizes many faces but there are quite a few new ones too.
• Kit texts Ravyn and Bee and finds them at the parkour park.
• Bee is AMPED up and very upset about Ty. Ravyn is listening morosely. Kit gives them both a huge hug.
• The Mistfits recognize Ravyn as "Spray Paint Kid" who created the mural. Ravyn gets very excited in a way that's unusual for him.
• Doc shows her video footage their TikToks and the moving Cheshire Cat tag. Ravyn is VERY interested.
• Bee asks what the plan is. She hates that Ty makes them do TikTok, Tag, & Takes to "recruit" new Beasts. She thinks is dangerous and doesn't like what he's turning them into. She feels the Brewery is not their space any more.
• Jake is missing from the group.
• Ty has been shutting Bee out and refusing to speak with her. This was not part of the agreement Kit and Ty made at the Wild Hunt for him to become the leader.
• Ravyn and Bee flip out at the mention of a sacrifice while Lennie can NOT resist giving a full and thorough definition of the word "sacrifice" while the Mistfits catch them up on what happened last weekend.
• Ravyn knows the Call of the Beasts is supposed to be at 11:00 and to "mingle" show up at the Spring Fling.
• Kit suggests they pair up and try to figure out what's going on before the event.
• Doc and Ravyn, Lennie and Bee, And Kit goes with Jimmy and Allie.
• The raised up space on the bottling floor where has been Ty holding "court" is empty at the moment.
• They split up and start searching in their assigned groups. Doc and Ravyn look "backstage", Bee and Lennie go look at the dance, while Kit, Jimmy and Allie go to the rooftop garden.
  

Oh my God, are you pregnant now?

• Doc and Ravyn go look for the "backstage" areas of the Brewery.
• Blonsky's was a 1970's company that closed a few decades ago.
• Avalon has poured a lot of money into renovating the old buildings and while the transformation has been stunning, it's only been 6 months so there are still sections that have yet to be touched.
• They go to the untouched areas that are still pretty sketch with old offices and other old unused rooms.
• Doc remembers from monster training with her Aunt Mina that sacrifices usually take place in basements. She looks and doesn't see any sign of stairs.
• Doc uses her camera's thermal heat signature setting to Investigate. She gains 2 Clues.
  1. She sees a few heat signatures down the hallways and a ton in the bottling areas and nothing from further back.
  2. Unused but can look back on later.
• They decide to walk down the hallway, toward the smaller cluster of heat signatures.
• They hear a door open and close and then see a tall, gangly teen (Aaron) nervously comes around the corner and freezes when he sees them.
• Doc grabs Ravyn by the face and kisses him.
• Doc tries to Convince the boy with her supernatural makeout move. She is fantastic but Ravyn tenses up is so bad at making out that Aaron looks at them weirdly and leaves.
• Ravyn freaks out and is worried that she is pregnant now. He thinks they're in a relationship and asks ridiculous questions.
• MC reveals that a consequence of Kit using Hypnotic Trance on Ravyn in the very first session has resulted in an eternal punishment and he will not stop tormenting Kit with the comical storyline of a very gullible and suggestible Ravyn.
• Ravyn doesn't know Aaron but knows he's new and not sure if he's part of Ty's inner circle.
• Two figures are standing in front of a door. A tall black kid (Jordan) and a short Pilipino girl (Mako).
  

The Spring Fling

• Lennie shares the history of the Spring Fling with Bee who happily indulges her stories. Bee is very supportive.
• Lennie tells her she remembers everything she read. Bee is excited about that ability.
• They enter the dance area and are greeted with “old people music” from 2009 tonight.
• Bee and Lennie split up and start talking to people. Lennie remembers very specific and unimportant details about the people who were or were not here the last Friday.
• She remembers Ty's swagger and the entourage he surrounds himself with but doesn't see any sign of them around.
• She goes straight up to a grown-up because she feels more comfortable around them than her peers.
• She asks the first chaperone she sees and gives a VERY detailed description of Ty.
• It's Carol! and she is very Carol with Lennie. She tells Lennie that that Ty is "a little haughty and usually up on this throne."
• He's been hanging around a lot what that new girl, Emma.
• Points to Ezra and says he might know where Ty is.
• Lennie tells Carol her name is "Ellie" and promises to stay off dank drugs. Lennie thinks Carol is a very weird grown-up.
• Bee isn't within sight so she forges ahead onto the dance floor.
• Lennie is wearing a pinafore and Mary Janes and is the Nerdist Nerd ever.
• She has to Face Danger to reach Ezra on the dance floor. She tries to do the “Macarena” and gets a status of "People are Talking" +1
  

The Stargazer and Fishface

• Kit introduces themselves to Jimmy and Allie, and explains they've been with the Beasts since the start and Ty in charge is their fault.
• Allie says the all the kids talk about Kit, thinks they're cool but haven't been around lately.
• Kit admits they've been really busy and that Ty might not be happy to see them.
• Jimmy offers to intimidate or beat up anyone with his Lacrosse cross that is awkwardly strapped to his back. (Why did Jimmy bring that to a dance?)
• Kit is amused but says they should not do that right away.
• Jimmy is pumped for the plan and shouts "Alright! Let's go team!" Everyone is confused.
• Kit leads them up a fire escape to the rooftop garden. It's much quieter and it has an... 'herbal' smell.
• Allie remembers being here last week with Liza and her "friends."
• Jimmy uses his Wolf Senses to Investigate. He determines that Ty has been there in the last three hours but not anymore. He used the same fire escape they did.
• Allie remembers being here last week with Liza and her "friends." Liza is bubbly, giggly, and is VERY excited to see Kit.
• She talks about Ty being “He's so problematic right now." "All of his big plans are so stupid, and he keeps bothering me about it...”
• She tells them "everyone seems to be under his spell" and he wants them to change their names to an aggressive animal.
• Liza tells them about her invisible friend, invites them to "Chill" with her, and notices that Kit looks red and uncomfortable.
• Jimmy realizes what she means by "Chill" and starts to back away as Kit backs into him.
• Liza thinks Jimmy is cute but he panics at the threat of potential drugs and power walks away. "I have State, in two months."
• Allie explains Jimmy has a new girlfriend and that's why he's awkward.
• Liza talks to her "friend" and then says Jimmy should “turn down the next offer he gets”
• Kit and Jimmy flee inside the building.
• Allie waves at Liza and her invisible friend. She sees a figure wearing a golden salmon mask now.
  

I guess we're engaged now?

• Ravyn is now convinced he is Doc's betrothed. We find out that Ravyn has always been desperate for guidance and affection which is how he ended up with Bear in the first place and now looks to Kit... And maybe Doc?
• Ravyn knows the two kids guarding the door (Jordan and Mako) and tells her "that's Ty's office" where he talks with kids alone.
• Doc asks what questions Ty asks him. Ravyn says “What pórtense does this Auspice have with... I don’t remember.”
• Ty's been talking about wanting to build a strong community

• Jordan is nice. Mako scares Ravyn a bit, but she's quiet. (Mako like a shark.)
• Doc finds a vent and gets Ravyn to help her crawl up. She only takes her camera.
• She gives Ravyn her bag “Hang on to this and don’t lose it.” He awkwardly holds it under the open shaft vent.
• Doc crawls her way to the "office" and makes a flawless Sneaks Around move past Jordan and Mako.
• Doc sees an old break room, lunch table and chairs, microwave on the counter, remains of a coffee maker, and a few vending machines.
  

Trust Issues

• View in the room shows Ty sitting at the table and talking with a girl with bright red hair. (Emma)
• Ty says "We need to watch out for that one." The girl (Emma) says “He’s harmless. I can tell you that.”
• Emma says “You know you can trust me, but who knows what else is going on?”
• Doc passes a second Sneak Around move and she is not discovered.
• Then they start going through a list of people who they do and don’t trust.
• DOC HAS A RECORDING OF THIS LIST!!
• There is no Bear bottle (visible) in this room.
• Bee is brought into the room and stands in front of Ty.
  

I'm Important!

• Lennie makes it to the dance floor with Ezra. He says “you’re weird ”and shows off some very awkward moves of his own.
  
• Lennie wants to hear more about how important Ezra sys he is. She rolls a successful Convince move to get Ezra to tell her stuff.
• Ezra is younger, like the Mistfits, and eager to impress.
• He says Ty is "the boss around here" and Ezra's doing special missions for Ty, because he's important too!
• He's supposed to make sure Carol stays in the dance room because she's a buzzkill, lame adult and wouldn't approve of what they do. "I mean, yeah she's nice, and she takes care of us, and she makes sure we've got everything we need, and she would fight for us if we were very in trouble, and she has a bunch of resources if we ever need anything, but she's lame..."
• Ezra hints about "a big thing" happening tonight but he doesn't actually know what it is.
• He's a younger Beast and isn't involved in inner circle stuff.
• Lennie leaves and looks for Bee but can't find her.
• She contacts the group channel "iChat."
  

Group Messaging

• Kit confesses that Liza is an ex and felt awkward because of someone new. Jimmy nods like he totally understands but in reality, can't relate at all.
• Lenny tells crew that Bee is missing.
• They agree to go to where Ravyn is standing.
• Ravyn chimes in and tells them that he saw Bee go to Ty’s office.
• Everyone is confused about Ty's office.
• Kit Bee Lines to Beeeeee.
• Allie relays the Golden Salmon's message to Jimmy.
• The group gathers to the hallway where Ravyn is standing.
• Ravyn is holding a leather satchel and confesses his engagement to Doc.
• Ravyn is upset because "she kissed me...and now we have to get married" and "we [Ravyn and Kit] can never be."
• Kit explains to Ravyn that kisses are fine, if he wants them, and he's not engaged.
• Ravyn says Bee and Rani went back to see Ty in his Office.
• Kit asks the group if they want to come with and goes to storm the office.
• Jordan and Mako are guarding and upset that this group showed up.
• Kit says they just want to talk.
  

And We're Recording

• Meanwhile, back in the vents, Doc is recording...
• Bee isn't happy with Ty and Emma doesn't like Bee's attitude.
• Ty says he doesn't trust her especially tonight.
• He says she doesn't have power any more and she can leave.
• They hear a commotion in the hallway. He opens the door to see the four Mistfits and Kit staring back at him.
• Bee is still unhappy but goes to leave the room.
• He's annoyed by Kit's sudden reappearance. He agrees to talk but only 1 other person, not the whole group.
• He recognizes the Mistfits and praises their exploits from last Friday.
• Kit tries to send Jimmy a subtle message to be ready for a fight.
• Chance roll- If Kit rolls high Jimmy gets the message. If Jimmy rolls higher than he does not. They roll complete opposites.
• Jimmy completely misunderstands and goes to fight Bee as she's trying to leave.
• Allie pulls him back while Bee is confused and uncomfortable and leaves to talk to Ravyn
• Lennie commands Jimmy to stop, put it away, and wait there!!
• Allie goes back to Bee and Ravyn to talk.
• Jimmy sits and waits by the door. He's a good boy too and destined to be a New Moon Café pack member someday.
  

Nice break room

• Ty's “office” is an old break room. It has snacks and soda machines.
• A bloody weather vane is in one corner.
• Emma is not happy to see Kit.
• Ty sits on one side of a small table and starts his “I’m in Charge” posturing.
• Kit goes directly to the vending machine and starts putting in coins. Offers to get a drink for everyone in the room.
• Kit pulls a chair on the side of the table and cheerfully asking what's going on and what's he's been doing while they were gone, slurping soda.
• Kit does a Convince move to find out more of Ty's plan.
• Ty has resistance to Convince with Iron Will -1 but Kit succeeds completely with Dynamite.
• Ty says “…they follow me but they look up to you. We’ve got to be unified and defend ourselves against those animals across the river.”
• Someone is a traitor. Rani knows someone is plotting against us and is a plant from the Wild Beasts. (He looks side eyed at Lennie) They’re here to cause chaos mischief and hurt us.
• If we can find who the traitor is Kit will have his full trust, know what is going on and have a place with the Ty as a lieutenant.
• If we don't find them he'll have no reason to not think we're one of them.
• During this conversation Ty tries several times to give Emma nicknames such as “Firebird” and “Phoenix”, and each time she shuts him down immediately.
• Kit offers to let Lennie talk now. Ty loves how she destroyed an entire building.
• Lennie brings up her concern about overhearing talk of a sacrifice.
• Emma laughs and Ty does too. He reassures her that no one will get hurt except those assholes across the river.
• Lennie and Emma leave the room and leave Kit and Ty alone.
• Doc does a Sneak Around again and makes a slight sound.
• Doc goes to grab her bag to add another #tysucks but remembers she left it with Ravyn.
• Ty demands Kit check out the sound. Kit jumps on the table and sees Doc in the vents and bluffs that they don’t see anything.
• Kit drops the act and demands Ty that needs to convince them that he's not a spy. Kit reminds him that HE was going to defect at the Wild Hunt.

• Jordan and Griffin were jumped.
• Akira was running for her life from them.
• He mentions the terror every kid feels “whenever that goddamn name is mentioned”
• The past month the Wild Beasts have been getting violent, aggressive, uncontrollable and we need to defend ourselves.
• Kit agrees the Beasts need to defend not attack but insists that everyone deserves protecting. Kit says they’ll help because “That’s what I’ve always been here to do” and “I’m not going to leave."
• Ty dismisses Kit and opens the door.
• Kit crushes the can "I like your little break room."
• Doc waits for 5 more minutes to keep recording Ty’s reaction.
• After Kit leaves, Emma is WTF was that about? Ty lifts the table and throws it at the vending machine.
• Doc slowly leaves, another Sneak Around move and completely succeeds.
  

Through the Looking Glass

• Allie goes with Bee to the rooftop garden.
• Bee is obviously upset and she asks Allie “what do you think of all this?”
• Allie explains she just came here because maybe the kids will talk to her. Everyone at school thinks she's just weird.
• Allie explains that her compact helps her see people for who really are instead of what they're trying to project.
• Allie does a See Through the Mist move, looks at Bee in the mirror, and asks "What does she want from the Beasts?"
• She sees Bee with a white crown surrounded by a bunch of really short people who are all happy. They are grateful to her for bringing them joy and happiness.
• Second question "What is she scared of here?" There's also a shadow looming behind her that looks metallic and Jabberwocky-ish. It comes out into the light and has Bee's face on it with the crown.
• Allie tells Bee that she wants everyone to be happy but she's afraid she'll mess it all up somehow.
• This hits an emotional mark with Bee who admires her gift deeply.
• Bee asks how she did that, Allie explains she inherited stuff from her Grandma.
• "Yoohoo!" Liza hollers, "They wanna talk" pointing to Fishface.
• Allie excuses herself to go talk to the person in the weird mask.
  

Very good boy, Jimmy

• Jimmy is dejectedly sitting on the floor, outside the door of Ty's "office."
• Lennie apologizes for yelling at him.
• Jimmy goes though a facial journey, puppy dog eyes and ends up cautiously hopeful.
• Lennie thinks it went ok. She doesn't think there going to kill anybody???
• Jimmy says that's good cuz you don't get a scholarship for state if you have a felony.
• Jimmy has a goal of playing Lacrosse at Karma U.
• No one knows what "STATE" actually is.
• They talk about Ty and Kit talking alone. Seems like a bad idea but who are they to say anything?
• Emma is smirking and laughing at these two while on her phone.
• Crotch stars, crotch stars, crotch stars. Dee will explain.
  

I'm taking a night off for ME!

• The Four Horsemen get a night off to do their own thing!
• Dee is taking a bath with whiskey and reading the Journal of Biblical Archeology. She's sending scathing emails to the authors letting them know everything they got wrong. Her facts are all accurate but can only be proven by time travel.
• Celebratory Eugenia is with Michel getting tanked. She has re-enacted her fight at Ragnarok about 4 times now at Michel's townhouse.
• Mora is at the library, looking for something that might trigger her past life. It doesn't spark any memory but it does spark something in her current life. She discovers an enjoyment of crafting books. She is currently into needlecrafts, such as quilting and knitting.
• Francis is having a BBQ on a rooftop with Lukas, some of the people from Ragnarok, and a familiar flower vendor.
  

Where should we meet?"

• Kit emerges from the break room and Emma shoulder checks them on her way in. Kit doesn't resist.
• Lennie is fascinated by this girl. Why is she so angry all the time? Kit replies "She's a Burke, you get used to it."
• Jordan tells Kit he's happy to see them. Kit apologies that things are weird right now and they'll figure it out.
• Kit texts everyone "Where should we meet?"
• Bee texts back "I'm on the roof. Allie wants to talk to a fish??"
• Kit Lennie and Jimmy head to the roof. Kit asks Ravyn to come and join us when he's done.
• Doc crawls out of the vent and Ravyn is gone. Her bag is still there. She Investigates complete success. "Is there anything in the hallway that concerns me?" Nothing at all.
• A message is spray painted on the wall "Sry, had 2 go"
• Doc changes #Tysucks to #tyfuckingsucks. The message gets 1 "Like" which weirdly enough, is the same account who always responds. The "Like" account is unknown.
• She takes a pic of Raven's graffiti message.

Aaron - Newer Beast, tall, lanky and awkward.  Audience may recognize him from Fight Club.
