There has always been a City.
It doesn't have any other name. Why would it need one? Everyone knows the City is all that matters. Sure, sometimes people leave, but they always come back.
Most people don't see anything out of the ordinary in the City. You're special, though — you're one of the people who can see beyond The Mist and into the world of legend that inhabits the City.
That hairy, smelly guy sitting next to you on the streetcar? Maybe he's a werewolf. Hell, maybe he's actually the Big Bad Wolf. Or maybe he's something you've never even heard of before.
(Doesn't matter though. Werewolf or not, he's probably an asshole.)
