Black Fortress

Purpose / Function

The fortress became the for Zanpha's new empire and became a place of pain and suffering as it became a place of foe horrifying experimentation and the forbidden rituals of dark magic. Along with it being an impenetrable fortress to that would take thousands of troops to storm and to mobilize soldiers when needed into battle.

Alterations

According to architecture schismatics the fortress was had underground levels put in after it was build, how many of them none could say as much of the records of the fortress was destroyed. All that was certain it was believed that experiments and dark magic were conducted down there.

Architecture

It was designed to evoke fear into anyone who lay eyes upon it. As it was painted black to cover the thick metal that would cover the metal that covered it. It was cold and cruel as it was meant to be, as to try and enter it was to meet certain death. As it was designed with highly lethal weapons systems to repel and order attacks.

History

Build on Blood

The Black Fortress build upon death and the misery of others. After he destroyed the Tree of Life, Zanpha began to build it upon the ashes of the tree as a reminder to all who defy him. As the Drescan Empire began its conquest of the continents, thousands of prisoners of war were forced to become slave labor it build it. The conditions for the prisoners were consider horrendous and cruel and many often died. In only two year the fortress was done, but it resulted in the death of hundreds of thousands to build it. With it said that there bodies were made apart of the foundation. It was considered one of the largest defense fortifications that the world had ever seen. It massive size could be seen from miles around.

Seat of Dark Power

As the personal dwelling of the Shadow King himself, he spent no time designing inside fortress the way he wanted. He ensure all the dark power bestowed to him would be but to use. He created a shrine to the Scion to commune with him, he had pits and laboratories to create unnatural creatures to serve him and many other dark and forbidden things that no one should ever know or speak of. He often never left the place unless he had to as well and often commanded his forces from his command center built into it. From here it was his capital, but it did not need any worthless civilians to get in his way. Even his own men stationed there knew better then to get in his way or face a far more terrible fate then death.

Death only Comes from It

Many prisoners were taken to the fortress to be used as slaves or test subject for the expansion of the empire. Everyone who were ever sent there never came out all. With there fates never to be known by the world or remembered. All that should be known was that their were given a fate worse then death and have gladly embraced it to escape such a place. There were some who were even those who were foolish enough to attack such a place only to be utterly destroyed by its weapon defenses. Those survived such attacks would often take their own lives as to be captured would mean never ending for them once they were taken prisoner and brought before Zanpha as all intruders were.

The Cleansing of Darkness

The Shadow Wars would soon see the Black Fortress meet its destruction at the closing of the war. As force land on the continent, very few people dared to attack it during the entire war as it was consider suicide and resources and man power could be used elsewhere to win it. It was a battle the the Coalition of Nations was not prepared for. Even as the it was encircled by the Coalition, no one willing to attack it all except one that is. The Phoenix Knight himself stormed the fortress alone as he did not wish to give up anymore lives. The battle inside could be heard and as explosions could be see and heard. It was at that time, when the very ground shaked it was believed that he and Zanpha battled one another for dominance. The fortress itself crumbling and falling apart at the mere force of their epic duel. By the time its was over and the Phoenix Knight returned after defeating Zanpha and requiring the Black Blade it was nothing more then a smoldering pile of ruins. No one knows what had transpired during the final hours of the fortress as the Phoenix Knight never told a soul.

A Place that is Forbidden

After the war, no one dared to go to that terrible place as many feared some dark forces may still exist under the rubble. But to ensure if something ever got out a defensive wall was build around it with several garrisons and weapon systems to make sure that that nothing ever will. For if they do they be given no mercy or quarter. Even those stationed there have the odd feeling that they are being watch sometimes.
