Valka
Valka is one of four heroes mentioned by name in the Codex of Whispers, notable for her deeds defending the People of the Maelstrom and Draemyre from the Beasts of Armageddon. It is unknown what her relationship is with Bast, Sara No-Name, or Chang Lu, other than that they were companions.
As seen in All Is Lost, the vision suggests some connection between Valka and the Faded, although their exact relationship is unclear. The Codex mentions that Valka is both a mage and a scholar, and thus some believe she may be the original author of the text — especially when considering the author's habit of precisely recording rituals and spells. The book also states that Valka was born in Draemyre, and acted as the nation's representative on her journey.

Personal history
During a conversation with Riley Logan (taking place just before Who's Who in Whoville?), Riley mentioned that Valka was horrifically disfigured when Bast gave into Crow, and that the sight of it is what caused Bast to flee from the survivors. The last Riley saw Valka, she had crafted a makeshift mask to cover the wound, and that her vocal cords had been severely damanged.
