Langdon

Langdon (a.k.a. Old Man Langdon)

Loading... Here is what we have on Langdon Eastwatch.
Old Man Langdon is a mysterious Outsider worshiped among the downtrodden of the galaxies -- those with dirt on their arms and blood on their brow. He is both arbiter and an executioner, and a self-proclaimed servant of the people. While ancient scrolls depict his humanoid aspect dancing with fire among the dragons (typically of the Tien variety), recent depictions show a weary, robotic soldier stalking in the rain. Blood is often trickling down his katana, and the bones of evil mortals rattle as his feet.   He is never seen without a storm on his heels, and often arrives with a downpour. In the past century, Old Man Langdon has never walked away without a corpse behind him, nor sheathed his blade. While his worshippers don't know the true cause of his holy crusade, they assume that it is righteous, and often condemn his victims as sinners regardless of evidence.

Physical Description

Special abilities

Langdon is capable of manipulating storms, and seems to summon one wherever he walks on the Material Plane. As he is a Death, it is widely-assumed that Langdon's sword is actually a Scythe -- supported by the fact that his victims never rise again. He also seems capable of teleporting large distances, having been seen equally across Near Space and the Vast, and can phase through solid barriers as if he were a Ghost.   Once Langdon marks a target for death, it is said that he can find that individual anywhere in the galaxy, often even when hidden by magical means.

Personal history

I heard a rumor that the Guildmaster has a bounty on this guy. I guess he hasn't reported back home in over a century. Right around the same time that Jun Zhao's little Gaps started to appear... Seeing a pattern?
Langdon Eastwatch was born in the Mirror of Azlant, specifically the outpost of Fountain, at some point in 4692 AR. He was a skilled pyrokineticst, and served the mortal aspect of the Guildmaster in the hazy events that surround his adventuring career. Given the location of his birthplace, it is assumed he was in some way associated with the Seer, who at the time was known simply as Aga Jain.   After the Mirror of Azlant disappeared, Langdon slowly came to forefront of history as a patron of the Order of the Dragon, and was influential in collecting lost dragon eggs and hunting down dragonslayers. As time went on -- particularly during the Gap -- Langdon leaned more heavily into the latter duty, finding that he had a knack for it.   Given the unreliable nature of public record at that time, it is unclear how many dragonslayers Langdon encountered, but the practice fell out of popularity by the time the Gap ended. While the change was likely gradual in reality, the Gap made a sudden transformation of Langdon -- from the gentle face of the fire dancer, to the robotic Death we know of today.
