Devourer Character in The Centurion's Riddle | World Anvil

Devourer

The Devourer (a.k.a. The Star-Eater)

The Devourer is a powerful, entropic deity native to the Infinity Petal, heavily influenced by the mythos and dominion of the Outer Gods. It is both mindless and eternal in its goal to devour the entirety of the Material Plane, so much so that it ignores its own Cult and its Atrocite servants, who themselves are so unreasonable that their very existence is illegal on most civilized worlds.

Divine Domains

The Devourer is associated primarily with entropy, but more specifically black holes, supernovas, and destruction. This association often bleeds into the Solarion and Vanguard faiths, and it is not uncommon to find followers of the Devourer among their number.

Personal history

Known to very few outside of the Dream Team (but suspected by many), the Devourer is actually a subgradient of Rovagug, created after the deity was severed from its core during the Lost Age. Without the Rough Beast's capacity for thought, the Devourer continues its original purpose across the Material Plane with abandon, and shows no signs of stopping until End Day.   As hinted by the Dark Walkers to Mist in 317 AG, and as shared to the Dream Team at large by Kauma Gonjodonque in 318 AG, both Rovagug and the Devourer are subgradients of this Iteration's Lalantha, and specifically embody her hatred for this world and her capacity as the Worldbreaker (a title shared by Rovagug). If rejoined with its core, many believe Lalantha will descend into whatever madness captivated her during the Twilight War, destroying the Infinity Petal and those within it once and for all.
