The Boil
The Boil is the volatile oily sea surrounding The Blasted Isles, It is a body of churning oil and water, alternating between calm--almost turgid--and violent eruptions of fire, known as Boil Overs, which can ignite entire swathes of the Boil without warning. Beneath the surface, unseen currents and hostile, mutated marine life add to the peril.
Despite its dangers, the Boil is a lifeblood for the Isles, providing access to the Greebeasts and resources vital to survival. Boilrunners, daring sailors who navigate its treacherous waters, are both celebrated and scarred by their trade. To many, the Boil is a symbol of constant struggle—a mirror of the harsh, unrelenting existence that defines life in the Blasted Isles.
