Olin Tearwyn
Olin Tearwyn cuts an imposing figure in Salve, a shadow among the grimy lantern light and oil-slicked water. Broad-shouldered and silent, they are known as a debt collector for the Brethren of the Hearth, someone who ensures that those who take shelter pay their dues. Yet, beneath their hardened exterior lies a conflicted soul. Born to canal workers who held a deep spiritual reverence for The Wound, they found themselves in a Hearthhouse after both their parents "committed themselves to the Wound." There, they found ways to make their size pay dividends.
Olin doesn’t relish their work. They use veiled threats and sharp observation rather than violence, but the reputation of their fists is enough to keep most in line. In rare moments of stillness, they read philosophy and poetry. Torn between the Brethren’s utilitarian ethos and their own ideals, Olin quietly aids canal workers fighting for better conditions. Their double life is precarious, a quiet rebellion against a world that forces them to survive by crushing others.
