Exchequer

The Exchequer is the head of The Concordium and the ultimate authority within The Argent Accord. They are the keeper of the invisible chains of Awarth, wielding power through the city’s financial arteries and enforcing the Accord’s will with ruthless precision. The Exchequer views debts as binding pacts, more potent than Gree. They see Awarth not as a city of people but as a vast ledger, where every life is a transaction to be weighed, valued, and leveraged.

The Exchequer’s primary responsibility is to ensure the continuity of wealth and power for the Accord’s members. They oversee the issuance of contracts, loans, and obligations that entangle Awarth’s factions and Holds. Each decision made by the Exchequer is meticulously recorded in The Great Ledger, a tome locked within The Auric Exchange.

The Exchequer’s authority is symbolized by the Argent Mask, a featureless silver visage marked only with vertical tally marks, each representing a debt owed to the Accord. Their rituals involve mathematical incantations, binding fate through numbers and figures. They believe that to lose track of debts is to court chaos and ruin, and nothing terrifies them more than unaccounted-for obligations.
