Half-Elves Species in The Azure Sea | World Anvil

Half-Elves

Walking in two worlds but truly belonging to neither, half-elves combine what some say are the best qualities of their elf and human parents: human curiosity, inventiveness, and ambition tempered by the refined senses, love of nature, and artistic tastes of the elves.   Some half-elves live among humans, set apart by their emotional and physical differences, watching friends and loved ones age while time barely touches them.   Others live with the elves, growing restless as they reach adulthood in the timeless elven realms, while their peers continue to live as children.   Many half-elves, unable to fit into either society, choose lives of solitary wandering or join with other misfits and outcasts in the adventuring life.

Half Elves around the Azure Sea

Half-elves have struggled to find a place in the world since the end of the Great Pelagic War. The Elves have retreated into their various enclaves since the Great Schism, and Humans tend to only see the fine elven features and immediately draw the worst kind of conclusions. Still, they can be found througout The Azure Sea in a diverse variety of roles, though most tend to keep the elven side of their heritage secret when in the larger towns and cities.   The diverse nature and ubiquity of the half-elves means that they can be found just about anywhere and in any position of society, from the dirtiest slum to the grandest palace. They are often extremely curious and love to explore, trying to find a home for themselves amongst the other races. Those that struggle to do so often find themselves living solitary lives out in the wild places.
