Ideals

Gender Ideals

males are expected to be hard and sharp minded workers and females are expected to be good organizers and supporters to the male workers.

Courtship Ideals

When a male Thedakm wants to marry a female he would first have to recieve her patriarch's blessing. to do this the male must persuade the patriarch that he can provide a good house for her and her offspring and that he can show how good of a worker he is. If that patriarch accepts, and gives the male his blessing then that male willl then offer the female cup and if she accepts then they are officially engaged. then the males patriarch will then decide when the wedding happens, and nobody including the husband or the bride knows when the male's patriarch will declare the day of the wedding. during this time while they wait, the male will begin to build a house or a room attached to his father's house. The female and her handmaidens will then prepare for when the day will be declared; the bride will be wearing her wedding garments day and night everyday until the wedding is officially over. Now when the male's patriarch finally declares when the day of the wedding is, then the families of both the bride and the bridegroom will exchange gifts and in some cases had built an entirely new house for both families to live in. then the families of the bride and bridegroom and their guests will surround them in an octagon shape, and a priest will offer a sacrifice for their atonement and then have them recite their vows and after the sacrifice has been made then they are officially husband and wife.

Relationship Ideals

They are monogamous.   platonically they prefer to make friends with those who are honest workers and those who are professional in their work enviornment.
