Prospector

Spinward Xenoform Prospector

Physical Description

The Spinward Xenoform Prospector boasts a slender, agile physique, modified for infiltration and reconnaissance. Its elongated body features a distinctive needle-like ovipositor appendage, designed for implanting seeds into host organisms. Enhanced sensory organs facilitate precise analysis of potential hosts, while its streamlined frame enables effortless navigation through diverse environments.

Role

Prospectors serve as sentient emissaries, devoted to resource acquisition and intelligence gathering for their Spinward Xenoform masters. With calculating intellectual curiosity, they identify and evaluate potential enemies and resources, conducting reconnaissance and surveillance to inform Xenoform strategy. Their primary function involves implanting seeds in suitable hosts, creating obedient servants that eventually become new Xenoforms. Through strategic infiltration, Prospectors facilitate Xenoform expansion.

Lifecycle of a Xenoform

Prospectors initiate the Xenoform lifecycle by implanting acidic seeds into host nerve clusters, lobotomizing victims. Over time, the cyst spreads, selectively burning nerve pathways and rendering hosts obedient. Eventually, servants collapse, and seeds consume the surrounding biomass, growing into new Xenoforms. Sentience emerges at approximately 500 pounds, marking the birth of a new Xenoform. If near its parent entity, the new Xenoform submits for absorption, merging masses. Otherwise, it begins independent growth.

Vulnerabilities

Despite intelligence and sentience, Prospectors exhibit vulnerabilities. Selflessness renders them indifferent to personal safety, prioritizing mission success over survival. Lack of combat optimization makes them susceptible to attack, especially when isolated from Warrior protection. Easy to neutralize individually, Prospectors' trial-and-error implantation processes risk failure, exposing weaknesses through dissections and vivisections.
